Man one thing about Western Express is you go all over the place; I’ve been to Florida, California and now we’re hauling drywall to Staton Island, New York; I definitely enjoy all this traveling and seeing new things

$400/month? I once made $450 in two hours installing a master bathroom and guest bathroom vanity on a Saturday morning. I’m going to spend about a week painting the exterior of a house, and I’ll make $4000. I sold a kitchen remodel and will make $3000 in four short days.

Are you sure you don’t want to grab a hammer or paint brush?

You're doing the most dangerous job in the country, you're away from home for weeks at a time, a mistake could land you in prison, people treat you like crap, and some—not you—are doing it for about $13/hr, which is what our local Whataburger says new employees.

I view truck driving the same way I do law enforcement, it’s not all about the money; for me what makes it worth it is the traveling and even more so if this so called “Brotherhood” existed more today like it did in the past; a sense of belonging, if you will; knowing if you screw up and need help somebody out there has your back

Furthermore, I personally spent most my life back home in a small town with no real accomplishments to speak of and I get a sense of freedom on the open road, flipping off one toll road camera at a time hehehe

I understand getting out of the truck and having fun, but the guy is a trainer. He should be training. Obviously there was a proper place to park but he chose to put you in a situation that was not proper.

Get along with your training and soon you will be on your own.

Also, sometimes it happens with switching over. My husband and I team and the elogs don’t always work right. Maybe a button didn’t get pushed right or whatever. It happens, your trainer should know this and if he was a good trainer he would make sure he was logged out for his 34, or at least in the sleeper birth.
When we get home or get a hotel room we log out of the truck so our logs reset properly. It’s a glitch in the system.

Just remember, & other post prior said this a dozen times. This trainer ain't your buddy, pal, dam sure friend. He already showed his cards. Speak & be cordial. But stay on your toes.

I'd try & steer every conversation toward load securement. Although I don't believe he has a good handle on it either, if you tiedown the way he likes too, you may get through this. Don't worry about being slow. 9 times out a 10, when I make a securement mistake, I was rushing. It's still quicker than making an emergency stop in the ditch to fix it, with traffic barreling by at 70mph. Been there, done it. Trust me, it sucks..

I guess I’m just a jaded old sot, and you're young and idealistic.

I graduated from Annapolis with 35 other “brothers.” Twenty-five years later, never heard from any of them except for the frenzied call to arms to have all hands on deck for our 30th class reunion. Sorry, don’t know who you are now.

Twenty-five years after an impressive USMC military wedding, complete with crossed swords and a whack on my bride’s butt by one of the groomsmen, none of them felt it important to keep in touch, despite my valiant efforts. I’ve lived in the same city and had the same phone number for 28 years, but you all disappeared.

Thirty years after Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Det Zulu has long since parted ways. Don’t know who is alive or who is dead. The guys were arrogant A-holes anyway, so I don’t miss them.

If a United States Naval Academy or United States Marine Corps “brotherhood,” baptized in the crucible of combat, withers away like those corn starch packaging peanuts in a thundershower, how strong do you think your bond will be with some schmo who happens to pull the same type of trailer as you?

Look, people suck. The sooner you realize this, the better.

    Now, more bourbon. :D
