I worked for TooMuchChrome from May 9th to Aug 17th...
I guarentee you, we did not use JUST 5 chains.... Everything is right except for the count... I agree with others,,you will be trained their way, by them...no need in going there and someone telling you one thing now and they tell you something diffrent when you get there.. I liked working for them,,they will keep you busy...I hope you like working from the time you get up till your HOS run out and then some...

    I wish you the best..

WLL of 5/16" Grade 70 Transport Chain is 4,700 lbs.
Using the Indirect Securement formula, the coil is 40,000 lbs divided by 4,700 equals 8.51 divided by 2 equals 4.255 chains needed, rounded up to 5 chains.

Some of us worked for TMC much longer than you did.

Relax highspeed.... my post was not stating anything about you not telling the truth.. so, no need to defend yourself.

I will concede that every single coil I picked up, I used 6 or 7 chains..dont remember exact weights but that is what was done. I went to orientation in Columbia, SC they had big bertha there,,,,7 chains... I don't remember what bertha weighed but she was big..

    OEF08 Thanks this.

That's interesting since I only haul coils and most of the loads I do are required to be shotgun. Which works for me since I have a coil well or occasionally pull a deep well coil trailer. Not sure why TMC would care as long as it was secured properly unless it's because they still have a lot of those junk Benson flats.

What do you do when the paper work says shotgun? Call safety to make sure its ok? Maybe thats why you guys are always holding up the line...:biggrin_25523:

Got to be cause of the Bensons.

I'm happy for you. They only have that requirement on 40,000 lb coils. Again why couldn't tell ya. Don't work there anymore so it don't matter to me anyways.
