Unless I am looking at it wrong, it looks to me if the aluminum slid forward with the momentum of the hit from the TMC truck, then perhaps TMC was lucky, if the aluminum had not slid forward it looks like it would have been through the sleeper area. How he didn't get killed is a miracle.

I do not pull a skateboard however, I think if he had not hit him in the ### the number of chains would not matter but, again I do not pull a flat bed or hit people in the ###!!

To not hit a "car full of kids"???? Really? Ever notice how every time a trucker "manages a crash", it is to avoid hitting a "car full of kids"? In that poor lighting/visibility scenario, in the snow with no traction, he identified the car was "full of the kids", but had enough traction to go where he wanted to go to avoid hitting the "car full of kids" ... I'm sorry but I'm going to have to call BS on this one.

Just one time I'd like to hear a trucker admit he screwed up, and leave out all the extraneous, "trucker story", made-up crap to try and make a screw-up look like a heroic event. He should have been fired if for only for testing the intelligence of the safety supervisor, never mind the accident.

Hey even if it was a car full of one guy, I bet that guy was grateful. Rear ending a car at 25+ mph can pretty much be a death sentence.

My point is three-fold .. if he didn't have enough traction to stop, I doubt he had enough traction and control to redirect his heavy vehicle away from target A to target B. Furthermore, if he wasn't too busy taking censuses of adjacent vehicles, maybe he would have seen the stopped traffic ahead in time to stop before rear-ending the truck. And, how is it only vehicles with kids are deemed important enough to avoid hitting in a pending crash scenario? It would seem as though vehicles with kids are in the immediate vicinity (but always avoided) in seemingly all crashes involving truckers. Strange ongoing coincidence is all I'm saying.

he admits he was at fault he just trying to miss the car the truck was still moving when he swerved
But when he did the truck stoped he was going 30 mph by the truck pcm. It was icey and snow. He should have not been going as fast. it just shows that a veteran driver with many years experience can make a mistake. He feel bad about. TMC is policy is if the roads are bad stop at a safe spot. They will not yell at you for being late for this.

Just to clear one thing. He had straps on it not chains. Not that it would of mattered. Just proves this driver is a bold face lying. Car full of kids huh. Why did he tell safety a totally different story.
