Don't you think you should at least include that information on such a post? Specifically when most drivers looking at tmc are looking for a company job

14'4" wide 14' tall 60' long. Had to gift wrap it. Lay tarps on trailer crane drops load. Pull sides up and tie across. Then drop top tarps. Took 8 tarps. Huge pain.Highway Sailor Thanks this.

I quoted sixx's post about better carriers and os/ow tarp jobs. I thought it was self explanatory.
To be fair I get a % of the linehaul and od pay. The only thing I see 100% of on that load are the tarp and fuel. -
I see that, I'm just being thorough cause the op asked about tmc, didn't want him getting the wrong idea
-
You mean TMC doesn't pay company drivers 1450 for their tarp jobs?mclonghorn215, D.Tibbitt, Highway Sailor and 1 other person Thank this.

A few thoughts of mine.
If you want to end up doing OSOW don’t go to Melton. They may do some over width but that have no specialized trailers that I have seen. Mostly flatbeds and a handful of steps.
Ats seems to structured to me. Their multi step system seems to inflexible for drivers that just “have it”. If it took me 3 years to maybe make it to pulling an RGN I would probably move on.
I think you should start out pulling a flatbed hauling all different kinds of loads before moving up to the more specelized loads. The bigger the loads the more you’re half rigger and half truck driver when it comes to securing the loads.
Some times it takes all day to tarp a load. Sometimes it takes all day to get loaded or unloaded. This Friday I’m unloading an airplane wing. We start at 0600 and it will take until 1600 to unload two wings, break down the trailers, and stack everything up with the empty crates going back to the customer. It’s just part of the process.
Show and tell time:
This load pays 100 bucks to tarp and takes 8 hours by your self. My company pays pretty low tarp pay but this load pays 1900 and takes 4 days to run so it’s worth it. 58’ double drop 15’2” tall.
A Cnc table with every sharp piece of metal in the shop. Real pain in the rear to pad and tarp.
A nice easy two crate load. The issue is you have to tarp this load laying down under the wing because they load the crates last.
It’s all part of the job.
