They shouldn't have an issue getting you home, however they have made changes to their hiring area during the past few months due to the economy and freight being so slow, so i'd double check with the recruiter before i make any decisions based on this. I live in Michigan, and used to run around Alabama alot, there is also reasonably priced lumber freight down around there, you might get sick of using your lumber tarps, though.

I am in the present hiring area. It is north of Bham, and I am 50 miles north of the cutoff. Sent app last week got a call from Recruiting manager, seems interested in me,, but ya never know.
Again,, TY sooooo much -
Eckz.......... Would like ur opinion on the things I have read here in reference to TMC terminating experienced drivers, to replace with folks like myself. "cheap labor" Say it ain't so.... I want an honest shot, not just a seat filler.... What say you??

I can't comment on that. I've heard a bunch of different stories regarding this, most of them from my ex FM that i still talk to who told me that they let go around 300 drivers in the same Month that i was terminated, mostly for whatever reason they could dig up, most of this was to save on insurance (Rates were on the rise) Most of these people were supposedly told to wait 30 days, and reapply.
I still have alot of friends that drive for them, most have 5+ years experience. Some people I trained, and some are just friends of mine. As far as them ONLY targetting experienced drivers, i'd have to say that is false, I think it had more to do with things that they could get people for (Being late, slow trippaks, etc) Personally i was semi-guilty of being late once or twice, however the time i was terminated for i was not late, i was doing the polite thing and called my fleet manager to let him know my car wouldn't start (it was 20 below 0 that morning).. By the time i got it running, i still would've had my load there hours early, BUT since i called him he was worried and gave the load to someone else, it just so happens that same week he got a new boss and she called him wanting to know why he gave my load to someone else, next thing you know i was fired via a confrence call for "attendance". I did get rehired, though, but changed my mind on going back because of some of the recent changes. The odd thing about this is that usually on this dedicated account if you were really screwing up they would just put you back OTR, the fact that I was fired for it seemed a little odd considering i haven't had any problems with being late etc. before, even my FM was shocked when i called him that day, still bugs me about getting back into it, and getting back on his board, but i think i'll wait and see how everything pans out first.
As far as the other persons post about pay being incosistent, it certainly is. I was just going over my pay stubs for last year and it wasn't very definite. The best thing for you to do in your position (Since you dont train like i did, it's harder to make money and run legally) is to average your budget on around 500 a week (Because you know you'll make AT LEAST that much) and put all the rest from your good weeks in a bank account somewhere for a rainy day (if, and when you do have a bad week you're covered). When you take TQM Joe will tell you the same thing, and it's pretty solid advice.
I made 62k last year, I fought for every bit of it, and was a trainer. Having a good fleet manager helps, if you get one of the lazy clowns that just send you any load he feels like, get rid of him, they'd rather play football in the office, or watch TV than deal with their drivers (Alot of them) the only thing that kept me there for so long after i quit the first time was the fact that the fleet manager i ended up with was a freakin great guy and took #### good care of me, the one i dealt with prevoius to that was a lazy little #$%^ and could've cared less how much money i was making or when i was home. -
thanks eckz,,,, what to do, what to do,,,decisions ,, decisions..
