No matter who you work for, if you're driving a flatbed, you're pretty much responsible for what's on it. If you have a load of shingles, lumber,or something that fits in a pickup, you better find a place where someone is watching and at the least tarp it so they can't tell what it is. Kind of changes your perspective, doesn't it?

I am also looking into PDI (tmc)- any pointers? I live in Victor near the Eastview Mall. Do you recommend dealing with tmc direct or through PDI's placement service? -
Life Effect.
I have enjoyed PDI (professional Drivers Institute, Rochester, NY) and feel pretty good about the training Im getting. Im in the full time class now. I would recommend studying your General Knowledge, Air brakes and Combos in the DMV Manual ahead of the class. You will be taking your permit on the 4th day. You will also have a chance to take your Endorsements. You can take Hazmat, Doubles and Triples, Tanks and Metal Coil. TMC and New York State require the Metal Coils endorsement. Study as much as you can before your class starts so You can get your endorsements out of the way. As for Jobs. PDI will offer jobs, but really educate yourself and apply on your own accord as well. Use PDI as a resource. Even if you have Prehires make sure you make contact. they will offer all the big companies (swift, Werner, Schneider, Rhoel etc) Hope that helps...Last edited: Jul 30, 2008
