thinkin of either one. i want to get into flat bedding and would like input on where to start. they both start my exp level at .36 mile. or tmc offers a percentage. not too sure how that works. ive been doing some reading on here for the past hour trying to figure out which pay scale is better. they both "guarantee" home time but we all know how that goes. tmc does have those nice shinny petes. but looks can be deceiving. melton has paid orientation. there trucks look old and weathered to me. kw t600s im a layed off swift driver completely out of work running out of cash quickly. i have a new wife and a 1 year old little one. id like to see as much as possible but i would like her to have a good future nice house to grow up in and so forth. any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
tmc or melton

In your area I would also check out Grayson Mitchell. I have heard both good and bad about Melton and TMC. I agree that TMC does seem to have nicer looking equipment. How is it that you got laid off? Swift seems to be doing a lot of hiring. Good luck.

why keep someone around that likes to know whats going on. they get 30 new drivers every week.
-
There are some good TMC threads out there that detail the pay packages and whatnot. Check them out and good luck with your decision.

melton seems to have better reviews. they seem to have better benefits too.
-
TMC's percentage pay sounds like it has lots of potential.

unless you get stuck in the northeast or some other high traffic area. i guess its always a gamble though. you will always saying i should have gone with the other choice. lol.

Haha I hear ya

guess ill just have to sleep on ot for a few days before making a decision

Layed off? Find that a little hard to believe myself - have you talked to them about hiring back on in the flatbed division of Swift? Everyone I've talked to back there inside the office and on the road says freight is moving well - enough that I'm going back to Swift in just a few weeks.
Anyway - Melton is making money. Good money. They have freight, particularly down in Laredo, and their equipment is far from being in bad shape. Haven't heard anything out of TMC, but I'll admit to ignoring them after they blatantly told me they wouldn't hire me because I was female.
There's always Maverick to take a look at too, but then back in 2006 they told me they were not interested in former Swifties with spotless driving records, so who knows, maybe they re-evaluated that decision when qualified drivers were harder to find
