I'm trying to decide what flatbed company I want to work for out of these choices: TMC, Roehl Transport, Melton Truck Lines. I'm getting out of the Army in less than a year and will be moving to the Bristol, TN area when I get out. Just having a tough time deciding between these three companies.

I drove for Roehl in the dry van division. It wasn't a horrible place to work. Not Many miles with them though. I would try out TMC or Melton First. Also, with Roehl. If there are no flatbed loads you will be taking out all the tarps, chains, etc... to reduce weight to haul a van. So with Roehl you will be loading up the flatbed equ. when there are flatbed loads and unloading flatbed equ when there is not to haul a van. Their equipment isn't really awesome either.

I drive for Melton and they're treating me well so far, but out of TN, look in to Loudon County Trucking. I have a cousin down there who did pretty good driving for them a couple years ago.

I've never done that. And a few drivers I do know that have done that were asked, or offered. It would be a very rare thing for them to say you have to clean out the gear. For one, where you going to put it? So that leaves a drop yard or terminal, if your at a terminal very slim chance there isn't another driver, or even a loaner van rig to get it. Drop maybe but again highly doubtful.

Out of those Melton Or TMC, though I have heard from some of the TMC guys that they are OCD about keeping the trucks spotless. Melton has good training, though I think TMC does also. I was their for my Husbands Orientation with Melton and I think it was rather good training..even if some will say they kinda over train. My husband left Melton, but not because they are a bad company.

I'm with "stingdar" on this; Melton or TMC.
Melton has excellent healthcare plan for driver & family.

Superior Carriers does lots of work around Kingsport if tankers interest you.

If you're over 23 years old and in the hiring area, TMC would be my first choice, then Melton. That's me, though.

    Best of luck to you!
