Does TMC treat student/trainer like a team? or does the student actually have the ability to learn instead of the trainer sleeping all the time? or vise versa, student sleeps while trainer drives?

Every trainer is different, but TMC's training policy for student (non experienced) drivers is :
1st 2 weeks, truck is dispatched as a single driver truck. You can team a little bit, but the trainer gets chewed if the truck doesn't sit still for at least a 6 hour stretch daily.
After that, if the trainer is comfortable, you can team drive all you want.
At least, that's how it was for me. My trainer actually trained me from the jump seat 90% of the time until he felt comfortable enough to sleep while I drove.
I'm sure there are a few guys that treat trainees as a second log book, and if you find one, report him promptly and get yourself a real trainer.
Good luck with TMC! -
My first two weeks he was in the jump seat most of the time, the rest he was driving and i was in the jump. The next three weeks we teamed alot but there was also a good amount of time we ran like the first two. Mainly in new, different situations that i hadnt exp. and needed a trainer to guide me thru em. I also got a million mile driver as a trainer, which was much to my delight. Not saying the rest are bad, just mine was really good.

TMC, trucking more cheap!

I would gross anywhere from 700-1400 a week. It all depends on the load, running area, how good you do. I would go with % unless running purely out west then go mileage. Im on a dedicated acct now running the nyc area so i get pay a little differently. Best of luck to you.
