Jesse, I worked for TMC for nearly 17 years. I left in Feb 2011. They can be kinda tough to work for sometimes. They have a good number of rules, but most are just common sense kinda stuff. You will need to keep a clean truck, inside and out. You will get talked to for high idle time, it is seasonally adjusted. You will get in hot water if you can not or will not tarp right. You will need to use padding under your tarps, tear up too many tarps too fast and you might buy a set. But, as for the good things, you will be home most week ends (unless you live in south dakota where I do. that is why I left. Got to where I couldnt get home right). You can make pretty good money there. The equipment is pretty good, and is supposed to be clean when they issue it to you. They give you enough securement equipment, that it will be very rare to pick up a load that you dont have the stuff to do it right. All in all, I liked working there, and miss them sometimes. And there is a good possibility I could work there again someday. And a lot of the bad things you hear about them on TTL or in the truck stop is complete and total baloney.

what poster number 2 says, and at one time, they gave you wax, cuz you were supposed to wax that truck.

BS, on my days off, time off, i'll be ###### if i'm gonna wax someone else's truck.

When were you there Gizmo? I was there from May 1994 to Feb 2011. They never required you to wax a truck. We used to have to use solvent to strip off road grime from the headache rack, and went thru a lot of armorall on tires an such. Used a lot of carpet cleaner too. That was all pretty much required. And while I did occasionally wax my truck, it was optional, never required, and I bought my own wax. And I like keeping my truck clean, inside and out. Never bothered me to do it. I do it now, at another company, and they don't check or even seem to care. I can fully understand why a company would want truck kept clean. Part of it is an image thing. Part of it to try to maintain resale value. And let's face it, some guys live like flipping pigs, and will literally ruin a truck in a very short time if some standards aren't required.

We had a TMC recruiter come to the school while I was going through.

I was impressed and IF I was going to go OTR, TMC was my 1st choice.

Only thing... $0.28 a mile is NOT a lot... or I think it was 24% if you go that route.

Newer trucks. Yes, they said you MUST wash them once a week.

TMC sure does have some nice looking trucks around here, to bad I really don't want to throw tarps.

I'm still sorta young so I don't mind. I run flat bed loads some times where I drive and I actually enjoy the exercise. Well... until the wind starts whipping and it's below 50deg :biggrin_2554:
