IF this is true....they just got a lot of respect from me.....
And IF they aren't malicously reporting on DAC....they got even more.
As for unemployment....file that #### anyway....and if they screwed with you....ie; you would still be working there if the economy hadn't flopped- but suddenly they fired you for you f-ups....file anyway.
This is your income for your family, not a game....if they #### with you even a little bit or just laid you off- you gotta file. Jobs are few and far between and it's gonna get farther. FILE, FILE, FILE!
If you think unemployment won't pay enuff....they go by your last 1/4 or some #### previous income up to a state chosen maximum. This means you very well may make more or close to the same as you would make at some #### local job for #### pay with regular taxes taken out of your check.
I hope this helps ya'all out.
Personally I hate to say it, but I can't take settn' around much more....gonna try to get one of those #### pay local jobs with the state....I hope there's a little less risk in working for the government....as much as I can't stand the thought of it.....
Living in an environment where the only 'safe' jobs are government jobs is not what America is supposed to be....
My neighbor just got laid off too, showed up- doors were locked. Neighbor on the other side is in trouble....no good.

File....don't learn your stuff from an internet forum....file so you got sometihng until you find something.....sooner the better, you still have a one week waiting period to get thru.
-By the way, now unemploymen issues a debit card....no 'unemployment check'....can you believe that?.....Fine by me now, I guess....but what does that mean, all those years we been busting our ###, the government was making it easy for people to suck off unemployment. Here's your 'debit card'....just call in every week.
Wouldn't ya think....or am I just an ###-hole?
Ah, whatever.... -
Oh, don't worry. I've filed. I wasn't born yesterday.
Faber Thanks this. -
eckz....been away from this long time, and thou never "knew" you, seen lots of your posts, if i read right...you just lost job with tmc?? so sorry to hear, truly am.
times are so rough right now, and sad to hear anyone losing their jobs, as us wives of truckers know, loads are slim now, and anyone doing ok needs to be thankfull.
all companies, on or off road are in touble, and all we can do is pray that all works out soon and things get right side up again.
my old man is coming on 2 yrs next month, and is on dedicated, which lately has been more line haul then dedicated, with alot more sitting then driving, but no complaints, better then no job, so we are gratefull despite it all.
but wanted to take a moment to say sorry to eckz and others who havent been so lucky and know we are thinking of you and hope all works out for you. now, i will go back and sit on my pins and needles.....lol -
I have not read this whole thread, but most of the first page and skimmed through the last couple.
So you have a bit of background on me, here's my story:
Attended C1 Training school in Fort Wayne, IN end of Nov to 1st week in Dec. Originally was to work for USA, but the recruiters talked me into switching to Star out of Morton, IL. I was to go to orientation on Jan 19th, but after not hearing anything about my bus ticket I contacted the recruiters and after many transfers I was told there was a hiring freeze. Now I'm looking for a job.
That being said, I have seen an ad for TMC many times over the past weeks looking for drivers. The only reason I have not paid much attention to it until now was the fact that I thought I had a pretty good offer though a guy I know and the fact that the ad looks more like the ones that are through training companies. After taking the time to look them over their site makes them look good, but what do people really think about them? Seeing that some have been let go from their employ makes me wary as I don't like the idea of a company replacing one employee with a new one just because they can pay them less. -
What is the latest information on TMC ?
They look like a great company to work for?
Good Equipment, commitment to getting people home on weekends, professional and structured orientation according to website and decient starting pay!
Am I missing something here? -
Maldar,
TMC isn't hiring in MI at the moment as far as I know. A lot of advertising runs longer than intended. In fact when you are entering Champaign IL on I-74 there is a nice billboard advertising for drivers for PFT Roberson trucking, which TMC bought out about ten years ago.
-----------------
Husker,
You are missing the fact that the job is actually work. Read the whole TMC section of the forum for more info:
http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/tmcBaack, maldar and husker rage Thank this. -
Rawlco,
LOL!
I take it that you are stipulating that it is work for someone other then myself just asking a basic question.
When I read the first 10 pages, wow... I thought I was finding out some real info that was needed to know.... but then as I kept reading it appears that there is some who are bashing TMC for reasons other then reality.
Look, I am a hard working, honest and ethical person who just wants to do my darn job, get home on weekends to see my family and pay my bills so I can keep what I have. I do not intend to be an Owner Operator where I live in my truck 24/7/365. I just would like to know if TMC is a company that is honorable and rewards hard working folk. I am looking for a solid company that appreciates me as much as I appreciate them.
I seen a spot in here where someone said they were not going to work on the truck on their off time (weekends) and I guess that is up to them, but I think if you have a little pride in what you drive, then you would want it looking sharp... But according to what I read on company site, you can have it washed or they wash it weekly.
I seen somewhere in this quagmire of data, that an ex driver was told to fudge his hours (logs) on going and he went over the centerline and forced cars off the road. This was back on page 1 of this thread posted by a guy named ####y... Was this going on? Is this going on? Or is this Bull?
Rawlco, if youre a driver for TMC still, then you have seen and heard this stuff on this board... Whats the real story because from what I read about them on the company site, I can see this being a great career company, but then I read stuff in here and it makes me a little nervious about what is honest feedback?
Love to hear the latest on available loads, are they keeping the drivers busy, or not enough loads... etc.... It looked like there was a slow time here about 5 months ago, it is now Feb 2009, is it full steam now or?
Thanks Rawlco,
Regards! -

Husker rage, if you look over my last couple posts you can get my thoughts on TMC. My husband has been working for them since October '08 and I think they are a wonderful company, that certainly "appreciates" thier drivers. If you're looking, and can be hired by them, I would certainly recommend them.
husker rage Thanks this.
