Wanting to pick and choose loads these days? I want one going to Key West then I want a 34hour restart. I want to go from there to Panama City via Daytona, Then on to Gulf Shores. Only if, I would always choose the good runs.

This is their little game.
They're going to give YOU the mileage driver the high paying freight, you'll make money on mileage, sure, but not as much as you would on percentage. Notice how when you switched to mileage it was no longer "any of your business" what the load paid? That's why.
Those times you sit for 5-6 hours waiting on a load? Do you think it's because they don't have them yet? Sometimes, yes, but more often than not it's them dilly dallying around trying to get the freight that they have run as cheaply as possible, this means the 23% guy will get high paying freight over someone at 29%, even if they have to wait for him to get unloaded first, while you sit around with an empty trailer.
This is where having a good FM comes in handy, he's gotta be able to stand up to the load planners, and get along with them at the same time.. Then you'll make good money. It is NOT first unloaded first dispatch, like they claim. -

And, if you're moving within 20-30 minutes, you're an exception, i find that hard to believe, especially in this economy. -
Eckz I was able to get the revenue while I was on mileage when I asked for it, maybe that's a somewhat recent change. I have most definitely sat for longer than a half hour before though. There are always going to be a handful that feel the need to be disrespectful when you don't shine the brightest light on their company. I saw a few at the last driver issues meeting.

I am one of those who had to wait forever for loads,, sometimes I'd drop a load in the morning and sat till the next morning waiting for a load. Yes freight is slow, I realize that. One time I sat all day waiting, I was only 20 miles away from my home, so I called and asked if it was alright to just go home for the night( would save idling the truck and such). They magically found something and bounced me 250 miles away where I had to sit again. I think if I didn't call to bug them sometimes I wouldn't have gotten anything. -
..but u TMC drivers get home every week anyway so it wasn't like u had been out for 4/5 weeks; wonder what they would have done if they found out u did go home without getting permission first; probably fired is my guess..

We don't always get home every weekend, I've spent a month out twice in my short 5 months or so with TMC. Of course I have always told my FM to run me, hell sometimes when I did they still sent me home. If you go home with your truck you could very well have the police called on you, at least that's what my substitute Team Leader told me last week. You would definitely hear about it at the very least and probably get in some kind of trouble, but at 20 miles I'd be surprised if it was anything more than just a quick WTF are you doing type thing.
