Alot of these adverse comments about TMC are made by drive by posters who can't articulate an arguement. Communication and like you say a poor work ethic led to their parting with TMC. Now they want to strike out and hurt TMC rather than actually have a dialog and help other drivers.

I am currently on med leave for something that happend at home . TMC
has let me keep my same truck at home (J.B. never did) until i,m better.
I have gotten calls from my fm and saftey hoping I'm alright. You can't
come up whith anthing that would make me think TMC is at the same
low level as j.b. or swift

quote"They sent out our truck from the Des Moines yard with cords showing on both steer tires and drives, we had no dash lights, cruise control would stick, dropped a trailer in Ankeny yard, picked up drop deck with 8 bald tires, metal showing on 5 of them, no kidding. took 6 hours to get them changed, all this happened in my 5 weeks of training. They tell us that they have $12000, invested in us at this point. If I quit I owe $1200, And then that will go on my record as a quitter. I am at this point wondering what to do. Dont work for these fools."[/quote]

WOW not for nothing did you do a pretrip why did you even drive off the yard with cords showing ,or bald,to me thats just unsafe

anyone going to the TMC orientation starting January 14th in Des Moines? I finished the Allstate Career CDL class in baltimore, MD earlier this month but the soonest I could smoothly leave my job is the 10th and they've always been pretty good to me when I needed something.. I kinda wish I hadnt given my word though because a couple guys from my class are going to the January 7th one and besides that Im pretty impatient, the novelty and excitement of just having a CDL is wearing off... I want to drive!

I read about having to buy a bunk warmer? dont they have alternative means of keeping the cab warm? are you not allowed to idle? can anyone shed any light on this? also are you allowed to choose where you go for orientation between des moines or south carolina?

Yes, you are allowed to idle. If you are on percentage pay there is an incentive to idle as little as possible. There are no detriments tied to your idle percentage, but the better your fuel mileage the better your pay. You will have to decide if comfort wins out over pay for your. Company policy is that you do idle when the temperature is 16 degrees or below.

A bunk warmer is one way to reduce your idle time. You do not have to buy one, although when I was assigned my truck drivers had to. They were out so I didn't actually have to. TMC has a Driver's Survey up on their website now asking for comments about making bunk warmers available. When they were issuing them and making you pay for them I think it was because it is a personal item and who would want it after you turned it in.

I am not positive, but I think I have heard rumors that only experienced drivers can go to orrientation in SC. Maybe someone that has more current knowledge will come along. I have passed by on the highway to the yard in Columbia without stopping by.

I was making delivery, one day, in downtown Columbia and I am passing another TMC truck. The driver didn't wave and I thought how rude. I see he is hauling some concrete barriers like they use in the medium on the highway and I was thinking I didn't know we hauled those. It is just like the setup we use while in orrientation in Des Moines, IA, then it struck me where I was. I had a good laugh over that one.

I am talking to a guy right now that is doing his orientation in Columbia, SC. He's not even out of school yet. So, yes.. You can do inexperienced orientation in SC... But i believe it was just started. Previously, they did not have the means for completely new driver orientation.. Apparently they do now.

Um. I diddn't have to pay for a bunk warmer, when i was rehired. I would guess it was because i still had mine, but the other experienced guys that were being rehired threw theirs away, and they diddnt have to buy them either... I think that they stopped that.

Personally, it bothered me that they wanted to charge me for a 30 dollar item to keep Their costs down, to their truck. I let my problems with it be known, and i know that other drivers have as well -- perhaps that's why it was changed.

I still idle my truck, and will always idle my truck. I will be comfortable, ######! :)
