hey all, been a bit since on...lol i cant say much about this poster's questions, except that my man seems to stay somewhat close to his side of states as few others he knows, but on long haul, i think yes, ya might have to do a stinch over north east, we are south east and he did alot of northeast(NY, LI and jersey runs), he to HATED it, but he was able to say something and got less loads there without taken cut in othr loads.
he started a dedicated 3 weeks ago, hasnt decided if likes it or not, as well as the other guys thatgot hired on to do it, they was all told that don time(the whole sit a day waiten for load/unload) would end, and weekend time would be alot better plus maybe a day or two during week home.....lol, it hasnt happend yet, they have had equal down time as before, and weekend time is now down to about 1/2 a day if that, and for past 2 weeks, he got 5 hrs home on a mon, and saturday prior, about 8 hrs, and the pay was half what they normally had onlinehaul the first week, and barely normal since, which they was also told their pay would improve alot. the whole group has questioned this, being told..."we(tmc) are still worken out the bugs" and it will get better. most of these guys know other dedicated drivers with tmc, and no one has ever had this problem, can anyone out there give their thoughts, most of these guys are thinken one more week and they are might just go back to line haul, or is this normal, for how long, and should they stick it out longer? my husband just grins and bears with it, he is hoping the pay will improve despite the loss of home time, only to make up for the winter loss which as big this year, and cuz we are looken at moven(stayen with tmc) to another state come summer. your thoughts???
oh, and please, i know some will jump gun and say these guys are whining, but they truly aint, they just feel like they got stiffed right now and wonder if they made right choice tochange over. -
I, too, just started on a dedicated account with Peterbilt. We haul Peterbilt frames that cross from Mexico to our yard in Laredo, TX to Peterbilt Motors in Denton, TX. Then we take a load out of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area back to Laredo. Usually, this is Railroad car wheels out of Corsicana, TX. There are four of us on this account, two at each end of the leg.
When no frames cross over from Mexico we have short Line Haul runs until frames come in. Delivery times are very critical, we have appointment times of 0600 and 0700. Myself, and the other driver on my leg arrive at 0530 and help each other untarping and unsecruring the load. We arrive early because if we are 15 minutes late TMC will be fined $250,000.00 by Peterbilt.
It has odd hours for me because I go home every day and weekends. I have Peterbilt frames on the truck now, so Monday morning I'll take off about 0100. Be unloaded by 0630 and bounce through the metroplex traffic to Corsicana and arrive about 0930. Load and be back home about 1500. It is a full day.
I then take this load back to Laredo, unload and pick up another trailer with Peterbilt frames and go home.
There are times when the load is delayed in Mexico, we still have to deliver at out appointment times the next morning, no matter what.
It long hours for less pay. We are making about $950.00 gross with mileage and tarping fees. These loads pay better under percentage but our dedicated account is mileage. Nevertheless, it is worth it to me because pay is consistant and I am home every day. -
My husband finished his 2wks with trainer who by the way was really good. Now has his own truck 2nd week out he loves it!!!! Tmc has been the best move for us!!!!!!! Not to say it will always be great but he is a very hard worker & loves trucking & omg what a diffrence from mcelroy!!!!!!!

I called TMC today and they told me they are on a hiring freeze right now...whats up with that ?
-
if tmc said they are in a hirng freeze, first, id be shocked, second, no offense to those tryen to get on, but good for those already with tmc and not getten either enough loads or low payen loads. its been a rough winter for most drivers, with twice the down time, up to half the pay, etc, and all the while, tmc was churnen out the newbies. heard that this is cuz tmc can pay the nwbies less and still line their(tmc) pockets well enough verses the vetern drivers already busten thier humps for lately, not much. alot agree, tmc should have been taken care of their current drivers and their needs first instead of hiring more drivers for loads that dont have enough to go around already.
but.....im still shocked they are supposedly in a hiring freeze...did someones racecar that is shoved down our throats not do so well this time and lose some money......lmao -
Got a postcard yesterday and called them, they told me to call them as soon as I get my CDL in two weeks and they would get me up there. Friend of mine that lives close by was told the same. We are going at the same time.
