oh, OK. well, if you heard it on the CB, it MUST be true.

have you checked to make sure the "no signal" light isn't on? maybe you need to move the truck a little.

terry, so you are a company driver for TMC? how do you like working there, what is your number one complaint, im right on the edge between TMC and Maverick. Maverick pays $550 for the first week of orientation and $500 for the second week and $500 per week for the OTR training. TMC only offers $300 for the entire 2 week orientation and then $450 per week for the 6 week OTR training. Plus with rumors of TMC closing down and losing contracts it seems like Maverick may be a better way to go. Any comments?

I have been presented with the difference in training pay before. A better way to look at that is, yes Maverick pays more in training, but you are going to wait a lot longer to go into training than with TMC. While you are waiting to be accepted with Maverick, I am earning money with TMC. It will come out to be several thousands more.
I just looked at the new training section on TMC's website. Current training pay is $300.00 per week (two weeks) for orrientation and $350.00 per week (five weeks) for driving training.
Rumors are just that, rumors. I did a check with the Iowa Federal District Court for Bankruptcy and there is no filing for Annett Holding, Inc. or TMC. It is just a rumor. I don't know what accounts TMC may be losing, we have plenty of work. It seems like we are adding more and more dedicated accounts all the time.
TMC is a very good company, it is not perfect. There are many things that I feel are wrong with TMC. I am saying that with only one year driving experience, all with TMC. Nothing is major and if I compare it to what I read about other carriers it is really rather insignifcant. As I gain experience with the other areas of the industry and understand what the Load Planners and Fleet Managers have to go through I'm sure I will be more understanding. That has already started to happen.
Freight seems to be slow, but it is really hard to say. I guess it depends more where you are based than anything else. For example, I didn't get a load last Friday and again this Friday. I just happened to deliver late in the day on Friday in Austin, TX, where I live. Austin is not an area known for a lot of freight. Of course, this puts me behind one day for the next week because I am not delivering a load on Monday. Nevertheless, this past week that should have been a bad week for me I still earned $900.00. The week before, which was slow for other reasons came out to be a $1,028.00 week. I'll have to see what this coming week will bring, but I will do my best to make it happen. On the positive side I did get to go home early on both Fridays and the loads I picked up on Monday were close, will be close, so I got the entire weekend Friday afternoon to Monday morning off. -
um, I'd take a 4.5 day work week - at a $grand$ a week!

I myself am a maverick driver and as all companies they all have issues, but I have to say with maverick I make good money. I am home almost every weekend. I drive nice equiptment, but to me the bottom line is they treat me good. When I needed to get in for my daughter's surgery they got me here. When I was 9 hours away from home the day before thanksgiving and the crane broke that was to load me and was told we will load you monday. They bounced me home empty.
This weekend. I came in and found I have a water leak in my bathroom and the insurance company tells me we will be out in a week to look at it? I call maverick and tell them I got to tear my floor out I can't wait or afford to pay someone to do it. What do they do? Send a driver to my house to get my load that delivers in chicago 6 am on monday. He brings me an empty trailer. When I am ready to roll again I will call them and they will put me back on the board. I like a company that pulls through when I need them. I am not just a truck driver to them. I am a human that has needs and am not felt pressured to get the load there. Sure I have been left out a few times on the road on the weekend and they tacked on extra miles to my pay to help compansate the fact. Point is if I get left out it happens, but when I have an issue they are there to make sure I get what I need. To me that is worth a lot as a driver. -
You don't purchase over 3100
$140,000 dollar trucks by letting them sit, sir. So, apparently we're doing something right.
I've consistently done over $60,000 a year as a company driver with TMC. -
I drive for TMC. I speak with alot of Maverick drivers on a daily and weekly basis, they all enjoy it. Weather or not they enjoy it prematurely in hopes of getting a recruiting bonus for me switching is unknown.
From what i hear they are about the same. You will have pretty much equal home time, and probably just the same in revenue between either company.
But when comparing companies, you need to compare more than just training pay. Good luck in your search, i hope that this helps.
My biggest complaint with TMC is 65 Mile per hour trucks. Aside from that im happy.
