Why are they still hiring new people then?

Must be a lot of drivers quitting if they need new drivers while cutting the number of trucks on the road.

I have not been seeing nearly as many TMC trucks as I used to on my route, or in the truckstops.

There used to be at least 4 TMC trucks fueling in Springfield, MO at the T/A every evening when I stopped there. I haven't seen one at that time for nearly 2 weeks.

Accross the street at the truckwash, the TMC trucks are MIA as well...

Well, I guess that proves it! TMC is definitely going bankrupt! That is all the proof anyone needs to deduce that!

In other news, Mayor Chicken Little is convinced that the sky is falling. When asked about his theory, he remarked that something hit him on the head, and that is solid proof of the sky falling.

People leave trucking companies all the time. Don't we all have dreams of putting in our time over the road until the perfect home every night job comes along? The majority of turnover is driven by people thinking the grass is greener on the other side.

TMC is an irregular route flatbed carrier. This week the freight pattern may not be the same as last week, so the absence of trucks where they were before is not an indication that there are no more TMC trucks on the road. That is like saying "it hasn't rained today, we must be in a drought."

As far as the lack of trucks fueling that the Springfield MO TA: If you have not seen any on your travels then HOW are they supposed to arrive at the aforementioned TA to buy fuel? Are they supposed to teleport themselves there just so you can see them?

I was just on the class A drivers blog and looks like they're talking about it also...some of the drivers said that the tmc owner finally had to send a message out on the satellite to the entire fleet to tell them it's a rumor that's gotten out of control.....funny thing is, there's another rumor going now that swift is in trouble. just like some other guys said if you're going bankrupt why would you continue to wash your trucks and what company in their right mind would ever tell their drivers ahead of time a deadline to have the trucks turned back in. If that were the case anybody driving for them would have just parked the truck on the side of the road and went home. Heck, I sure would! Just like the old saying in trucking, if you haven't heard a good rumor by noon, then go ahead and start one.:biggrin_25523:

    LIE.

Friend of mine from SC who just left Prime did finished his orientation in Columbia when this little gem was posted.

I'm really curious about how you folks get your jollies posting lies and pumped up rumors like that. Not to mention, not ONE of you have posted anything remotely resembling any proof.

    Actually, it is not.

I-44 is a main corridor for freight.
The absence of trucks where there were many before is interesting, nothing more.

Think of it in this way...

If a person living along a river notices the level start to fall, that person might think that something has happened upstream. (drought, dam, whatever)

I am not asserting that TMC is in trouble, only commenting that reducing trucks (staff) while running ads in the local paper weekly, and seemingly hiring new drivers at the same pace as "normal" seems odd.

Since I have one of the jobs you describe above, (Thank God) I probably forgot what it is like to work where there is so much turnover.

I am not trying be a wise acre here, since I know how blessed I am to have the job I have! I wish (or hope) everyone could be (or is) as happy in their job as I am.

Thank you for your reply and have a safe day!

They will continue to hire drivers until 2600 trucks are full. Turnover is a will not let 2600 drivers stay for the rest of their lives, so due to turnover yes, they will still continue to hire new drivers.

And yes, Harold did send out a Qualcomm message debunking the rumors.

I received word earlier that TMC has just been bought into by Maverick.TMC will continue to run as a seperate company,if the money loaned by maverick is not repaid by the agreed date maverick will take control of TMC. just remember WHEN A COMPANY GOES UNDER THE DRIVERS ARE THE LAST TO KNOW!!!
