I would just like to point out that nowhere near all the posts on all 95 pages are negative. Before I tried to keep the TMC posts in the other part of the forum many people posted to this thread asking for information. For a lot of balanced information about TMC check out the dac report section at: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/tmc/
I do understand Ekovatch that you are on a crusade of hate because you believe that your family has been wronged by TMC. I have found TMC to be a very forgiving and fair employer to people with a good attitude. I have also seen TMC get bent out of shape over stupid little things. TMC does expect drivers to follow instructions and if instructions are not followed some people in Des moines get ticked off, and rightly so. That is the way things work in the world.
For the record I do not buy that any driver was fired for simply being late one time. By not telling the whole story your credibility is questionable. You also accuse us of not getting the whole story and checking our information before making false accusations, yet you claim you are telling the entire story, I am guessing that you "misspoke" with one of those statements, so please clarify.
You do not and will not run illegally at TMC. Bangngears outlined what happens. I have never been asked to run illegally and will not if asked. I have never been second guessed when i told my FM "I cannot legally deliver until XX time" I have never been reprimanded for being late.
As far as turnover goes: I believe that the majority of drivers who start at TMC do not expect to retire from here. TMC is a training company who will hire inexperienced drivers and treat them well. When I started over two years ago ( The same time as Terry Lamar BTW) I had intentions of working for TMC for perhaps as little as six months before finding a local job where I could be home more. At most I expected to be done at TMC after 18 months, yet I am still with TMC and have no plans of quitting anytime even in the distant future. I am not a perfect driver and have damaged my fair share of stuff and TMC has treated me fairer than I deserved to be treated. I expect them to hold me responsible for my mistakes and accept responsibility for them. I have found however that the drivers with a self important over inflated ego claim to be treated horribly by TMC, so I wonder just how much that ego is inflated.
As ekovatch has accused me of being a PR person for TMC I ask a moderator to verify that my IP address tracks to Maine and not Iowa. A search will show that TMC or Annett holdings does not have an office in Maine. Please post your results in this thread.ScooterDawg, Baack, NukedNative and 1 other person Thank this. -
well i agree with rawlco..but i will take it a step farther, ANY company you work for has rules to follow. They have procedures and they want things done in a certain way, that is the way it should be done! TMC has alot of rules and procedures and if someone does not follow them they will be on a bus going home, and they tell you that from day one! I have had a good opportunity to talk with tmc drivers in the past at sites and truck stops and as a general rule they are all happy. NO ONE is happy with the freight situation right now and everyones pay is going to be lower than a year ago but that is the economy not TMC. Most of the negative feedback on this site(or any other forum) is from drivers that are mad and have been fired. Not just TMC but any company. Well enough said i guess, one less driver means more freight for the driver who wants to work and has a good attitude about it.
Drive-a-Mack, Rawlco, Wingedvisitor and 1 other person Thank this. -
I enjoyed reading your post and all the others, first of all I want to say I agree you make what you want at ANY COMPANY! second I was once tryting to get involved with TMC and now they are saying NO to me due to where I live. every time I see a TMC truck i start to druel I do like there trucks alot and also like how they take care of them. But I guess that dream will not happen for me to be with them. I do want to pass on one other thing I have been driving for 23 years and over the road for 7 of them, try to make every day a positive. I havent done this until recently and plus with the economy they it is be happy you getting a paycheck!.

Man I'm glad I stumbled across this sight even if it was by accident, I was looking a car parts sight a frind told me about. I have been torn between either McElroy trucking or TMC and had everything set to go to McElroy but out of the blue was told it would be after the first of the years before I could go, no training till then. That made me decide on TMC which was who I really wanted to go with in the first place but McElroys hometime promise was getting to me. I have been reading all the post on here and I see a few threads that start out talking bad about TMC but probably about 90% or the replies end up defending them and speaking good about them. This has really made me feel good about my decission and I'm looking forward to starting training on the 29th. Now I just need to see if I can get a bus ticket at the last minute or repair the damage to my car that my daughter did this morning. It wasn't her fault though, kind of. A container fell off a flatbed (of all things!) and hit the front of my car. I'm sure I will have to replace the radiator and AC condenser but hoepfully that will be all, just about got it all pulled and just need to check a few other things before I'll know if that is all the damage. This sucks happening right before I am suppose to leave and I told them I would drive. Oh well if I need to I'll rent a car. Man it's strange that this would involve a flatbed hauler and the car I was going to use to go to a flatbed school! Like the saying goes " if it wern't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all" Just want to thank everyone for all the useful post, they really help us newbies.

also, as another driver said, all 95 pages are most certainly not negative, if you take the time to read them, as I have, very little of the 95 pages are negative. the fist few pages are from a while ago...a couple years i think even from a time, as far as i understand, when TMC wasn't so big on safety, but since they cleaned it up, the company has VERY little complaints
i can't speak for everyone, but as a truckers wife..I can tell you i am extremely happy with tmc on all fronts, and thats saying something. -
I would also like to add my 2 cents worth. I have been with TMC for over 2 years and came on board as an experienced driver. I have made mistakes also and have been treated fair because I manned up From my experience, they (DSM) want you to learn from your mistakes so it doesn't happen again. I recently went looking for other companies out there and there is hardly anybody out there that will pay me what I am earning here. Thanks Ecks, Rawlco, and Bangngears for all of your positive input in the forums. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
KEEP THE BLACK AND SHINEY SIDE UP!!!!Rawlco Thanks this. -
also, you can probably just call them to get a bus ticket, you still have over a week until your training starts so i'm sure they can make arrangements without any problems, when my husband started with them, they said to just let them know a week in advance before he was ready to come in ... adn that was all the time they needed.ScooterDawg Thanks this. -
Hey there ekovatch.... (you still out there?)
Please note that I have no intention to ruffle your feathers. Also, before I get going, let me state that I DO NOT work for TMC, but they are one of the several companies that I am looking towards for employment. Why am I saying that? To help you realize that I have done VERY extensive research on the company. Like you, I educate myself before saying or doing ANYTHING.
I also want to offer you my sincere sympathies for your husband losing his job right before the holidays. Definately does not add to the premise of "Happy Holidays". I do however hope you and your family enjoy it as best you can.
With all of that being said, here's my two cents...
I know nothing about your husband, and I think it would be unfair to judge him or his actions. But I know A LOT about TMC and their "way of doing things". Any company with the structured policies akin to TMC's would not flippantly terminate someone for something that they did or didn't do, unless they did it to EVERY employee who had a similar infraction. Employment Security Commission would be all over them for unfair labor practices. And I can assure you that, as many employees as TMC has on their payroll, they are most likely very much aware of this.
TMC is run with rather strict guidelines and expectations. And when it comes to violation of policy, they seem to handle it fairly but aggressively. At least that is what I have noticed while "looking between the lines". Again, I am not saying that your husband or anyone else is not telling you the truth, but something just doesn't add up. Could it be possible that your husband and his FM had issues over something else, or perhaps many other things prior to this? And did you hear directly from the FM that he was terminated because the shipper had complained? Again, I am not pointing fingers. Just curious.
I think you have made your point, and I think others have made theirs. But I agree that there is probably more to it than you may know (and PLEASE don't start defending your husband's honesty with me.... you don't need to)
I do have to agree with a wife who posted that of the "95 pages", most dealt with one or two complaints here and there, and then the pages filled up with people ranting on and on (and on). And trust me, I have no intention to fall prey to that. But, like the old saying goes, "A Satisfied Customer quietly comes back to do business again. A Dissatisfied Customer won't leave and won't shut up."
Ekovatch, I wish you and your family my best for the future, and I hope your husband becomes gainfully employed soon. My prayers are with you.
