Almost 3 years ago after I got my class A I saw one of their, (TMC), ads in the local paper saying "No CDL No Problem Training Available" When I called them I explained I had the liscense but no experience, (I took my test on a tandem axle dump truck pulling a 10 ton lowboy, never went to truck driving school), they said I had to go to a truck driving school. So I thought their ad was a little decieving. I've also heard their pay is good. So to each his own. Their equipment is awesome. I won't drive a piece of #### whether it' s a personal vehicle or rig.

Back in July when i decided this was the new career move for me, i looked at TMC, Swift, Schneider, MCT and a couple others. Both TMC and MCT require you to already have your Class A CDL before attending their training (which from the sounds of it, is nothing more than an extended orientation program). I lived in Des Moines at the time, and when i called TMC about going to school, the 'recruiter' told me they dont offer class, but i should try getting a student loan (yeah right, not my credit) and go to DMACC. Now I did consider going to DMACC, because they have an excellent CDL program, and it is a 4 week course. But seeing how i wanted to start this endeavour as soon as i could, i went with the first company who seemed to have their act together.

as far as your "i wont drive a piece of crap...."....i dont drive a POS personal vehicle. I did that for years and years, till a little over a year ago, i bought a 1996 Cadillac DeVille. I drove it to Indiana Jan. of '08, when it blew a head gasket. I went back to driving my 1994 Gallant POS, and after 2 weeks of that, i went and bought another Cadillac. Love the ride. As far as a truck goes...i could care less what it looks like. As long as it runs solid and has no major problems with it, ill drive it. If it can legally roll down the road, it will earn me a paycheck....and that is all i really care about in the end.

Hey there, thanks for givin me the info.. My "school" was so stupid, the only testing was paperwork motivated from the beginning of the school. I pulled in the 90's but the tests were a joke anyhow. I hope that isn't what they were going from..

I know this was like 300 years ago that you replied to this, but it was a single accident, sorry if I was retarded enough to make it seem like two! The suspensions were 12 years ago, those still hang ya?

I took the winter off of thinking about going out and learning how to drive in the snow around here. Bad enough these idiots can't remember from one year to the next how to do it, I don't need to be the idiot learning how to drive a real truck and hurt someone. But time is coming where I've gotta start looking again...

    Thanks for the info..

    Nuked,
Well all right. I frequently reply to these late at night, so sometimes I read things wrong as well. I am guessing that the accident and suspension combined may have caused them to round file your app. It could have been something else as well. Given the interest in TMC on this forum I believe that TMC is swamped with applications for a very few openings, so they pick and choose the best available. Not that there is anything wrong with you, but there are applicants with better records out there.

    NukedNative Thanks this.

I excelled in their orientation and got hired. They didn't have a trainer for, and they told me yesterday they did.

Today I was fired because they just changed their hiring area's.

Wasn't I already hired? I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG AND I WAS FIRED. Stupid. Zero Job Security with TMC.

Hey trucker josh, its very unfortunate that TMC let you go, its just isnt right, but we have seen your post about it, you dont have to go and post in every TMC thread there is to get your point across, it is most unfortunate but we get it already

Seen it a lot, yeah, but the guy's gotta blow off some steam. It's the only real power he has over the situation.

Exactly, I'm blowing off steam. So don't take a shot of me. You would be just as heated in my situation.

Go freeze your butt off in -15 weather trying to get a job, then get it. Then tell you wife and kids you got this nice new job. Tell your parents, tell everyone you got this awesome job with a great company.

Just to get fired for something out of your control.

I want to make sure everyone who is even considering TMC knows my story.

Wait til you try to get another job. You now have a "discharged" on your DAC. Trying to find a company that will hire you in this economy is proving to be near impossible. Tough to get experience when you can't get a job in the first place.

Seems we've both picked a bad time to join this industry. :biggrin_25512:
