Looks like they take care of their equipment from what I see out on the road. I'm tired of finding too many POS in my flatbed quest. Has anyone ever bought a flatbed from them or heard anything about their used equipment sales?

didn't you just buy a flatbed recently? If so, what happened to it?
DSK333 Thanks this. -
Just keep in mind, those trailers have hauled more than their fair share of 50k coils. Look for broken welds!

No, I've looked at quite a few but haven't pulled the trigger on anything. Seems I keep gravitating towards junk. I'm doing my best to not get too hasty but I'm also anxious to get everything going. Perfect time of year for it.Tug Toy Thanks this.

Absolutely. Thanks.

I had the same problem when I started. 3 or 4 deals fell through at the last second and I wound up buying a trailer from my carrier. At the end of the day I wish I would of just bought a brand new trailer.
I figured out it cost less than $3000.00 a year to own a new trailer if you keep it for at least 5 years.
Problem is I don’t think the area any new trailer on lots to sell right now? Guessing a 6 month wait for new? -
Honestly, I haven't looked at new. Financing has been challenging during my used search so I can only imagine it would be worse for something 3 times more. I also ran into an unexpected hiccup with the insurance. So I had to negotiate that hurdle as well. How did you come up with the 3k a year cost of ownership on a new 30k+ trailer?

With the exception of the triaxle steel guys, i don't recall many of their trucks hauling much over 48k.Last edited: May 16, 2018
Highway Sailor, stwik and DSK333 Thank this. -
I would think it the cost of maintenance and the difference between purchase price and salvage price at the end of 5 years averaged out.

A decade and a half ago I started my driving career there. In the 6 months I was there, I pulled 3 permit loads out of Columbus, MS that grossed over 90k. If I remember correctly, they were 60k coils. I assumed they still did stuff like that. Maybe not. Regardless, not much difference between 50k and 48k.
