I recently got my Cdl and have received pre hires from both tmc and werner to go on the family Dollar account. I'm currently managing a family Dollar so I know all about the process of off loading the truck piece by piece on rollers. I really want to go with tmc. I just know that the family Dollar account is always going to have work which results more money. I'm not sure how consistent tmc loads are. I need to make a decision soon I'm just stuck. I have two kids and cant afford to have months where my pay is low. With Christmas coming up I know family Dollar will be booming. But I want to go with tmc. Any insight would be great. Thanks guys!

With flat Ed you're always going to have a slowdown in the winter. The good thing is tmc is so large that it wont hurt as bad. I was with them for a long time and always made good money even in the winter. They would be my choice but igs ultimately up to you. Its definitely more work than a van driver and you should make more money as well.

Thank you for the advice. I'm going to go with tmc. What made you leave tmc?

I leased onto landstar and eventually sold my truck. Not my choice but the wife can be pretty demanding. Its alright though im buying another and leasing with pgt. They have alot of dedicated stuff in my area so ill be close to home.

It's funny I stumbled on this thread today. I heard from a pretty reputable source this morning that Hogan Trucking was gonna be taking the Dollar General acct from Werner.

Tmc is aa mega carrier so the personal relationship is lacking, but that doesnt mean theyre a bad place. If you want to go otr and see the whole country and make good money tmc is the place to go. Pgt will keep you close to home and make money too.

I haven't started school yet, and I haven't made any decisions on what companies to apply to....however I will say one thing about the TMC drivers on this board....all of them seem really cool, knowledgable, witty, and willing to give some advice.

    Werner.....no so much
