Between the 4 listed, LoneStar has more "options." They're the only ones you listed that do. TMC has their "heavyhaul" fleet, but it's 5 axle, under 80000lbs, and I feel embarrassed for any driver that tells people he's heavyhaul because TMC let him pull an rgn. That's like telling people you're special forces because you bought a GI Joe action figure.

I like options. LoneStar has options. The others dont. If you want to eventually play pro football, do you go to Ohio State or the Kentucky Wildcats for college?

Thanks for info. I'm looking a flatbed company that does stepdeck and lowboy also. I'm trying to gain as my experience as possible without jumping around. Some of the other companies I'm looking are: system transport, hunt transportation, combined transport, and transport national. I'm currently living in Ohio but I'm willing to move.

This is true, LoneStar definitely has more options, especially if you want to haul oversize. Me personally, I don't sit well & if your going to run OD you do a lot of sitting. Hats off to y'all that are still doing it, these idiots on the road now I don't know how you deal with them. Oh yea, I'm not talking about 4 wheelers. I don't get in pis... matches over which company is better. I'm happy, that's what matters. What I tell people when they approach me about going flatbed. Melton if you like to stay out, Maverick if you want home on weekends.

Maverick does very little if any oversize loads for what it is worth. Also they are just standard flatbed trailers except for their glass division which has special glass trailers that are sort of like a stepdeck but not exactly.

Try getting away from the rest of the herd.

There is no reason to limit yourself to the usual suspects.

Comfortable boots, a good attitude, some leg work and get away from the interweb.

MJ's right. Next time you leave the house, take a drive up your nearest US highway. You will see all of the regional and local haulers. The good ones will have their own contracts and dont usually deal with brokers at all. Find one that does what you want to do, and you're gold. Yes, it's a little more effort than browsing the internet, but if gold were easy to find, it wouldn't be valuable, would it?
