I apologize for not posting this sooner, however SR840 is now open all the way through from I-40 mm 176 near Fairview, TN (x182) to I-40 mm 235 in Lebanon, TN. This route will allow you to get to I-65 South, I-24 East, and I-40 East as well as part of I-24 West into the industrial areas of La Vergne and Antioch and Nashville International Airport without having to go through downtown and sit in A TON of traffic thanks to folks who can't drive. Please be careful on this stretch of highway. It goes through BOTH of my Fire/EMS response areas and I'd hate for us to meet that way. DOT and the Smokies will be patrolling it heavily for the next several months so watch your speed and make sure you have your paperwork in order.
There is rumored to be a brand new truck stop in the Thompson's Station, TN area near Exit 30 or 31. I'll keep you updated when I hear more on that. You can now avoid all downtown Nashville traffic by using the SR840 and Briley Parkway or Old Hickory Blvd (OHB) Corridors. Hope this helps and again... BE SAFE!

Now they just need to complete the loop around the topside. More traffic runs from 24/65 from the north side of town the south and the other way around. The new bypass is very nice tho, just hope they do the other side

Some landowners got screwed over by the state and they had that section tied up in court for over 10 years. The road is a good thing but I can sympathize with those people. When US64 was 4-laned from the exit 127 off I24 to Decherd the state cut our family farm in half in 2 places and pretty much paid nothing for 18 acres of prime farm land.

I was through there last week & while it was nice missing nashville going from 24 to 40 i was surprised at how rough the surface was.

Your right, the Alto area had the best farming land in the county.rollin coal Thanks this.

Those people were compensated well, some just got greedy. A northern leg would be heaven from me as it would save me loads of headache and time.

Some of them with small parcels likely made off like bandits. They agree and settle quickly. Anyone with a significant piece of property likely got a lowball below market value offer in the first place, sort of like how brokers think more miles can pay less per mile. Once the budget is close to exhaustion anyone that didn't settle quick and early gets screwed. In my grandfather's case his was the largest piece of property taken from anyone on that first phase of the new road, for half market value. That's how eminent domain works. Plan the route, come up with a budget to buy the properties, divide up the pie. Some win some lose, ultimately one has no choice but to accept. He was never bitter and actually glad for the progress. It's awful easy for you to say anyone was greedy, you had no skin in the game.

Rollin Coal, same thing that happened to your grand-dad happened to us here but everyone thinks folks get ''greedy'' because that's how it get's ''spun''. Truth is,folks don't have much,if any, say in the matter any more, whether they want to sell,or not. Been there and done that, trust me
