I just bought a tnd 700 about a month ago while I was in school. Haven't used yet. Get my truck this week. Now I see they have a 510 and 710 out now. What's the difference?

    From what I was told:
The 510 and 710 have a bigger hard drive and are traffic ready (when the service become available to Rand)

500 and 700 users are supposed to be sent a 2 Gig SD card for expanded memory that also contains new software that will run in conjunction with the software on your unit.

LOL - was this on dial a CB?

The 510 and the 710 have the same size drives as the 500 and the 700. Their are different features available on the 510/710 that are not available on the 500/700. Traffic will be available on the 710.

Their is nothing in the works to add a 2gb SD card to the 500/700 for expanded memory.

    thanks,
    Mark

"By comparing the 700 and 710 boxes, a some of the big things are Truck

washes, repair and service from TruckDown, Traffic Predictor, Virtual

Dashboard, Destination by Lat/Long, Enhanced Map Detail, " It also has

the latest map data, which would need to be purchased as an update on

the 500/700 when it becomes available."

    Thanks,
    Mark

Does this mean I will have to pay for map updates for my 500 T5C that I purchased in January ? It tells me the map database is over a year old when I power it up.

I was so happy with my 700 that I sold it to buy the 710. Love the improvements, Highly recommended!

The TND remembers the date it was first turned on. It sounds like it was updated at the warehouse.

I am not sure of the past purchase date length for the updates. As I am in the destroy part of R&D.

    I will find out.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Now im aggravated, sold my 700 to upgrade to the 710 and in less than 3 weeks it wont turn on. Started out the screen would flicker and I thought it was a charging issue with my 12 volt cord. But after charging it with the ac charger I had the same problem until now its completely out. Im going to try and return it today at Pilot. Hope they will at least exchange it as I was extremely happy with it till now.
