I had a buddy not too long ago go thru this. Had a tooth bugging him, he decided gettin it looked at before it was unbearable was a good idea. They suggested root canal and he was DREADING it. Root canals always seems to be the barometer of discomfort. He went in and was pleasantly surprised he said it wasn’t near as bad as he feared. I think dental sedatives and numbing strategies have come a long way since the horror stories we’ve all come to hear.

I tend to overthink things....A LOT . My dad just underwent back surgery on Thursday like it was another day at the office, but he also served over 20 years in the army and a tour in Iraq in his 40’s, so I don’t guess nothing much phases him, hopefully as I get older I can adopt the same mentality.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I know we talk on here about the famous two types of end dumpers, those who have turned over and those who will, and warn the people coming into this niche of trucking the dangers of it, but this is just a reminder to all those (mainly me) that this is a dangerous job. This is one of our super-dumps. Not even a frameless, a class B truck. She has been with the company for years , has an impeccable record and might be one of the most hard working people I know. Not to mention the fact she could drive circles around a lot of the men I’ve seen out there. Rumor has it she was stockpiling at a construction site and was either over an old well or an old septic pit that I guess went un known. Until now. Luckily she’s ok, just her pride was hurt. But it just goes to show no matter how careful, or how comfortable or straight forward a dump may seem, there’s always room for something to go horrible in an instant. Be safe out there fellow dumpers and dumpettes!

Those look like easy breezy loads. Been a rough few days on my end, truck is acting up and the whole root canal saga hasn’t been a walk in the park unfortunately, hopefully by the end of the week things will show some normalcy.

Looks like the end of the month will probably see me stepping away from the long dump and back in to one of our local divisions, it’s not been an easy decision to make but I’ve been missing the normalcy of home life, at the same time I’m stressed as can be for the transition away from the only way of life I’ve know for over 3 years now. It’s pretty bittersweet, looking forward to being home at the end of the day, but afraid I’ll miss the road. We’ll see what happens.

I had that same issue 10 years ago when I dropped my dump trailer for a covered wagon. Believe me, I still think about running the road and remember the good times and the people and still laugh about a lot of it, but I wouldn't trade my home life now for anything. Once the kids are out on their own, I may consider it, but I still think an overnight or two a week would be plenty. You won't realize how much you've missed the past few years until you're home doing it all and think back. You'll be fine! :thumbright:

Well not sure it’s what you wanna hear but you will miss it lol. My kids are grown and out of the house. And I’m home more now than ever before. Usually 3 nights a week maybe more. “For me” it’s perfect mixture where I go, home time, pay, and over all good environment.
