I went to work for a grain hauler a while back. On first day I hopped in the truck. It was so disgusting I got out and was going to quit. Needed the job so I took it home. Took me 3 days just to make it clean enough to live in .
On the look out for a truck and trailer to buy now.

Howdy folks, yep Jimy and I are alive and well. It's been a while since I got on the computer for any length of time.
As some of you know had the truck painted several months ago. Well there were some issues with that and to make a long story short the truck has been getting repainted. While it's there I told them to check out the suspension, fix any problems and then line it up. So this is going on the 3rd week at home. What's bad is because of the beer virus I haven't done any traveling to see family that I normally would have. We have just been hanging out here at home, doing not much of anything. Hope to get the truck back Friday IF they get all the parts (as needed) to get my show on the road again.
Hope ya'll had a great Thanksgiving and perhaps I will get on here a little bit more.
Everyone stay safe out there, keep your gown down and your powder dry.
    Happy Trails

@NightWind its good to see you back on here. Sorry about the truck issues I hope you get everything squared away soon! Been a pretty straight forward week for me. Loaded sand Monday for the Denver airport. Just kind of moseyed out there. Got it dumped and reloaded some sort of decorative sand in Fort Lupton, CO bound for Omaha. Once I get that slid out reload shredded aluminum in Council Bluffs, IA for Muscatine, IA. Then get sand for Watson, MO to get be going back in the home direction.

Question : As a o/o what kind of jack can a guy make running a end dump staying out a week or so at a time ?

I am used to local end dump in Ks, Ok area as a employee. Trying to decide between grain [ hard sweaty hot work ] and end dump.

Got another question. Maybe a better place to post it, if so let me know.

What PTO is best for end dumps ?
Are there any special adjustments needed to install one ? Used a lot of them, never installed one or paid much attention to them.
I know on pneumatic trailer we had different sized PTOs for different blowers.

    NightWind Thanks this.

In my experience the best money i made pulling end dump was when i hauled hazmat dust out of the steel mills as a company driver. The owner grossed 6000 to 6500 to the truck. That was on 3 rounds at 4200 miles for the week on paper logs. When we did 3 rounds we always dead headed back. It worked out fine for me but that's doesn't figure out to very good money per mile for the owner op. But i didn't see what he got for fuel surchage and maybe running empty half the time saved him on fuel mileage.

And hauling dirty dirt on end dump always paid me well but i don't remember what that stuff paid the owner op. I always see owner ops pulling for oakley. The ones I've spoken too all seemed very happy an profitable. Oakley has hoppers, dry tanks, and end dumps. Just gives ya an option to look into.

To the best of my limited memory wet kit pumps should not run over a thousand RPM to twelve hundred RPM , over that the pump will start getting hot. Degrading pumping efficiency.
