@motocross25 any likelihood of heading down towards Florida? I see a few of your trucks down here pretty regularly, one of which I think might be the same guy driving a flat top red Pete, big bunk. Like I've said in the past, I've seen your trucks pretty often grabbing shell from down south, but I assume there's plenty more down here that they get in to.

I've got to head in to the shop Monday, my truck is dealing with some wicked electrical gremlins, maybe pertaining to the ELD, could be the radio, cruise control, engine brake? Your guess is as good as mine, no exaggeration though, the truck throws a minimum of 50 false check engine fault codes daily, sometimes upwards of 100. Wish me luck, I'm going to need it. Problem is I turned over 400K in this truck, I've never kept trucks this long working here, I'm out of them by the time the bull crap starts :)

Yea I hope to get down that way! I talked to a driver at Peterbilt the other day I guess he loaded rock in St. Louis and went down to Florida somewhere and then reloaded citrus pellets back to a feedlot in KS. A lot the shell we load down there goes to Wisconsin, or at least so I’ve heard. Good luck with your truck troubles. Once electrical stuff starts sending codes it’s usually a wild goose chase to track down the problem. Hopefully that’s not the case this time.

That's typically what our trucks do when they get in to the MO area, lava rock out of St. Louis back down. I've also done the citrus pellets quite often, just throughout the southeast though, there's sure plenty of it down here though. If you ever do get down this way, especially south of Ocala where I live, pack your patience, the traffic is an absolute nightmare.

@Professor No-Name are you a W2 employee with the new gig, or 1099? Those are pretty impressive rates, Florida has one major hopper company, Schwend, I think their guys do ok, but not like that. Pretty much everything agricultural down here is independent, I enjoy where I work, I've been with them for a little more than 11 years, but the pay could definitely be better, unfortunately they're one of only a few companies doing agricultural type work in Florida, so there's really no one else down here to raise the bar. Of course freight companies, and different aspects of trucking have better paying options, I simply couldn't see myself doing work like that though.

I'm on a W-2. The boss said I would average 1600 to 2000 gross a week. He does per diem so it helps with the tax burden. Plus i seem to be making enough that when i apply for credit the reduced taxable income will still be high enough. I can't imagine that rates will always be so good. There's bound to be some lows that go along with it. But he does seem set on not hauling cheap freight. Maybe with having only seven trucks he can be a little more selective on what he commits to. A friend of mine works for the guy. He doesn't make as much as i do but he doesn't work as hard as I do. He is going home a lot an then over sleeping or staying home sick. I can say that the boss is a nice guy an gives me a lot of choices about home time an discusses load options with me. Whenever another truck that's in the shop gets done getting a new motor, he has promised it to me. It's a 2017 Mack Pinnacle Rawhide. Twin stack Automatic. I know i'm in the honeymoon phase with the new gig, but I hope the champagne keeps a flowing.

Spent the better part of the entire day at the shop, only to leave empty handed. Turns out my VCM (Vehicle Control Module) needs replaced, as well as the aftermarket radio that was installed recently that has caused everything to go haywire, hopefully Wednesday it'll be done. Days like today, and equipment like this really makes me question sometimes how many more years of this I've got in me, albeit a nice truck, it has every bell and whistle in it known to man, lane departure, too close buzzers, hell it reads the speed limit signs and abruptly slows you down if you're 5 over, and when any one of those super awesome features has a fault, the whole trucks has a fault! To make matters worse, wash guys showed up over the weekend to clean up the few trucks where I park, and managed to crack my less than 6 month old windshield, from the bottom to the top, don't ask me how they did it, but they did, and didn't even have the decency to leave me a note regarding their mistake. Is it Friday yet?

We had that issue at climate. After market stereo wouldn't work cuz it was all tied into the smart wheel and all the nanny systems. So our last new truck there didn't have a cd player so we couldn't play our cd's and they said they couldn't change the stereo. Kinda messed up.

Ugh….joining the Volvo crowd while the mack is down. My OCD shines bright when it comes to spares, does this mean I can take my 30 on the fuel island though :) BB80D98A-995D-4E52-A7E8-3D9240840F79.jpeg
