Good simple logic for a typical problem. Prolly be several on here use it, or offer their method. All gain.

 

Usually just pop the gate that way I can build a gradual ramp for when you start to pull forward it’s not a sudden drop, once the material is out of the nose I don’t really care what it does though

 

That does work and i have done it too, but it also requires the load to be far enough back, the material firm enough or the ground level enough to start. Ive found a bucket is more consistant for us longer boys and will make a good 2 to 4 foot long "ramp" depending on the material which is usually enough to safely dump. If you need it longer for more room, more buckets can be used

Also have a long plastic fence post with a bubble level taped to it i use as a level check. Just lay it over both "ramps" after you pack them and check if one side is higher. Not perfect but more then enough to ensure your level enough to be safe lol.

Man I’m guilty of forgetting the tailgate, but with rock? You know by the third stage if nothings hitting the ground something’s wrong, I’m just as guilty as the next guy when it comes to mistakes like this, but that really takes not paying attention to the next level.

 

Been a busy enough few weeks down here, @Arctic_fox how’s things at Bones been lately? Couple loads of cold patch and some mill scale this week, waiting to grab some corn now and head home and see what next week brings, I presume it’ll be a short one with the oddly placed holiday.

 

Pretty good. Just busting my butt as usual and bounceing here there and everwhere.

Though im hateing life today. May or may not have accidently used way way WAY too much carolina reaper powder in my soup and ate it anyway....

 

Good morning everyone, I had forgotten about this thread. For those of you that don't already know, I gave the hopper back to the boss man, and are back pulling a bucket. Unfortunately the purple truck wasn't set up for a dump so I'm in one of our oldest trucks now as it was the only one available for a dump.

I've hauled a couple loads for Bones in the last few weeks. Maybe I'll run into you somewhere in the future. If you see the older blue Pete that's me.

 

That is a good looking setup. I always like the aesthetic of a half round. Looks great!
