Yea i was shocked too. $5000 fine for transporting undeclared produce. Then i got $3500 because i had a "non compliant motor" when that brand new literally AT THE DEALER reefer started to smoke when i started it up. As for the windshield wiper fluid yup they have a ban on low temp fluid and because i had a jug marked with a banned type they gave me a $1500 fine.

Ive basically flat out refused to go to cali since.

Holy cow… I mean I don’t even know what to say. That is absolutely ridiculous. Now I understand your disdain for California!

Did you offer up the produce information? Always say no when they ask.

Nope they pulled my truck aside to pop the trailer open since i was carrying hazmat at the time and someone got a wild hair up their ### to search my truck. Likely because i was at the time a new driver and that was my first inspection so i was a lil nervious. Said load was an entire load of cleaning chemicals going to a walmart DC. and they searched my cab as part of it. Claimed they were looking for achohol.

1st: make sure you are relatively leveled ground
2nd: when raising bed only raise halfway after unlocking tailgate
3rd: if not all has slid down, raise bed to slam tailgate then lower back to halfway
4th: after clearing load check & make sure
5th: lower bed, engage locks, and drive away.

I've actually only driven one once an that was so I could use a manual truck to get the auto restriction off my license. Way back in 2002 I drove a Kenworth that was a solid mount cab. It was a slope hid with a single bunk flat top. Maybe it was a t 600 or t 800. I don't remember the model name for sure. But that was a little bit off a rough ride. It was a quiet ride though.
