I’m what you call a seasoned end dump trucker. I see a few people talking about lowering the trailer if it leans but this is only if your up about 1stage maybe a little more anything higher you need to dump it letting it down when it’s up 2 stages or more will turn it over if you’ve let it down with it up high leaning your just lucky and you didn’t save it. That being said I can tell if it’s gonna be a good dump soon as it starts up a foot or 2

One size does not fit all when it comes to that. It may work with sand or rock but when you’ve got a leaning load of gypsum loaded towards the nose in a trailer with no liner 3/4 of the way up in a wet field, that’s not the time you want to say F it and hope for the best. You’ll have it laid over faster than you can say wrecker bill.

I’ve been following this thread for some time and figured I would join in on the fun! I’m an owner op and just recently added a second truck for my brother in law (which has been quite the learning process). I run a 39ft frameless mac half round and we are home every evening for the time being at least. Things tend to change in a hurry around here!

I agree with ncoal, I've not adopted and will never adopt the mentality of just send it when it's leaning towards the top. I haul scrap, fluff, and surprisingly quite a bit of asphalt and will make adjustments as needed, I very rarely, if ever deliver to customers that have perfect concrete pads to dump on, you have no choice but to put it down and get leveled back up to dump the rest of the material in 75% of my situations.

You guys are making me feel pretty lucky in my limited experience most of my dumps are on solid surface rarely have I had to unload on dirt but I know that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be cautious

Well I got dumped in Norfolk NE this morning and touching on the subject brought up as of late, it was about the unevenest crap spot I’ve yet (knock on wood) to experience. They just dug a pit with a bulldozer and you back into it and dump and I put the bed up and down probably 5 times before I said screw it, they can push it up with a loader and dumped out where it was more even. I had it up about 3rd stage and since I was facing up hill I tried pulling away and the tractor started huckin and buckin. Nope. Lowered it back down got on level ground and finished the rest. Reloaded in Shenandoah IA and was told to swing it by the yard my truck needs a PM. Over 3k Miles this week and still have tomorrow to go. So anyway I’m home and will get that dumped tomorrow and probably pick up drag sand outta Treece KS to finish out my week comin up to St Joe. Actually come to think of it they had me drop my trailer for my PM, so @blade you know where our yards at if you wanna grab it and unload it for me tomorrow and help a brother out that’d be super. I’ll give myself a 3 day weekend. It’s DDG too, your favorite!:thumbright:

I would love to brother but this hasn’t been my week neither was last week for that matter I’ve been at CIT Kenworth since last night thought I blew a high pressure turbo turned out I had blown manifold gaskets. simple fix right naw broke a stud on the turbo housing been here all day so even if they get done I’ve been up all day so I’ll just be going to bed!! Glad you are having a great week friend hope the rest of you guys are as well. With all those trailers on the yard I’m hoping I can talk them into selling me one
