I work for a company that has a few different divisions, all of which are either refuse, wood bi-product, lime rock, or the small OTR dump and live bottom division that I’m in. I didn’t initially pull an end dump for the company, I was a local refuse driver hauling garbage up to GA out of Florida and reloading bark or potting soil coming back down, the pay was good and I was home everyday. Our contract changed and basically squeezed me out so I made the decision to move over to end dumps which I’ve been doing now for a little over 3 years of the 8 years I’ve been employed here.

Depending on where you live would probably determine what route to go as far as employment with an end dump company, there’s a lot of O/O’s out here, but there are a few company positions that I know of in the southeast.

Summer is definitely on the horizon, the weather was terrible at home this weekend, never quit raining. I’m sitting in jasper ga this evening, going to get up early to get Atlanta out of the way and head down to plant city Florida.

Hey all hope everything is well. I went over to the derailment job about 7 this morning and they weren’t ready for us, so we just sat there getting paid till about 11 until they backed the first one of us down. It was corn so I just assumed we would be going to a local co op. Union Pacific said no way, once grain is in a derailment the second it hits the ground all of it is trash. I guess they don’t know what could be in it, i.e, pieces of metal, or who knows what. Makes sense. So off to a landfill 100 miles away we went. The wind out here in mid/western Kansas is brutal. Sustained winds of 40 and gusts up to 60. Made dumping on the hill at the landfill a bit more exciting than I would have liked, but it was just corn so as soon as I tripped the end gate it came bursting out instantly. I just pointed it into the wind, didn’t go all the way up and just strung it out. They got a loader, have at it. Went back for another one and came skating in front of the landfill gates with 14 minutes left to dump first thing @ 7 am and do it all again.

I’m sitting in Tampa this morning waiting to load then heading up to South Carolina. I’ll empty this tomorrow at 6AM supposedly, then reload something coming back south for hopefully an early Friday home.

Wow good to see everyone being busy. We have been busy here just staying within 100 miles or so of the house.
@D.Tibbitt The way I got into dump trucking is I applied to a company 30 years ago, they had a driver ride with me for 2 days, I was pulling a 30 ft. frame trailer. After a month they gave me a triaxle 36 foot Trailstar and the rest is history.
The guy that trained me was very cautious when dumping and I am too. I never dump if I 'm not comfortable no matter what anyone says. I have in almost 40 years, only taken one load back where it came from because it wasn't safe to dump where the customer wanted me to. He was a real Richard cranium about it and signed the bills load refused so he paid me both ways.
Good luck and keep us posted.

That's an exact twin to the one I pulled from '06-'09. It was absolutely perfect other than being a little on the heavy side with the stainless floor in it.
