It's a love/hate relationship! Gets in your blood, and no matter how fed up you get, mad you get, or anything else, you'd still rather drive a truck that push papers around in an office.![]()

It can and does get worse. God bless you for your positive attitude. You will need it. But in the meanwhile, how DARE you tell me nor anyone else not to voice their opinions on what they go through. Shut it? Loosers?
You have nerve....rayodeluz, Wargames and notarps4me Thank this. -
Well, I'm someone who's getting out of trucking for good...I don't care what it costs me...this industry is getting worse with each passing year.
CSA2010 is the government's way to force a driver shortage (that never existed in the first place...even when times were good).
The purpose of which is to get illegal aliens behind the wheel.
Mexican trucks will be rolling across the border soon into the heart of the US.
Trucking will go the way of landscaping, construction, meat-packing, food-service, and other low-wage service industry jobs.
The wages aren't really good for the amount of time you spend on the job and being away from home.
They're just gonna keep going downhill.
Now's my chance to escape and I'm gonna take it. -
seriously people that hate their jobs be it driving or something else are STUPID. this is america you can work or do whatever job you want to do i never understood people who stay in careers they absolutely cant stand and it makes them miserable. i was talking to a guy at a dock once, he'd been a driver for 20 years, he's running local driving straight trucks like me, says driving was the worst decision he's made. i laughed a little and i go i love it. i've been driving for 3 years locally, love it as much as the first day. i get tired of peoples nonsense sometimes but i dont let people sway my mood, i'm hard to the core and i never let soft whiny sissies that piss and moan about life get me down. sure i get pissed off sometimes but i'm quick to regain my train of thought. stay positive man, half the battle to being successful in anything you do is staying positive, when you start thinking negative things come apart and you ruin yourself and your sanity. been there, done that, never going back.hobbypassion21 Thanks this.

every blue collar job has been destroyed from this just like you said. it sucks, its painful to watch, i'm 23 and i really dont know what the future will hold for me. it scares me but i dont care, screw everyone i do what i want to do, i wanna drive trucks i drive trucks, i really wanna get out on the road but i'm very afraid of the exact points you made. we run locally, its a locally owned company, small company, we got about 15 employees. been in business's since 1978 and business's has always been consistent from waht the people who started here in its inception said so im just layin low here and seein what the future holds and ill make my break OTR when the times right. one thing is for sure our government cannot sustain this any longer, too much debt, too many stupid people being dumbed down by the DOE, america is going to hit rock bottom and its eithier going to come out on top, or it will be a very different america.

They just don't need American blue collar workers any more....

What joy do you get from tearing people down? I will never understand this attitude.123456 Thanks this.
-
It is not tearing someone down. When someone with no stick time comes on here shooting off at the mouth it is called wait and see because time will tell...Wargames Thanks this.

The thing is that everyone is different. As is every situation. You can take two people. Put them to work for the same company, in exactly the same situation, and have two completely opposite view points on the job, the company and life in general.
Trucking is NOT for everyone. But for those who love it, it is really the ONLY thing there is. Unfortunately, those who love it are in the vast minority.
Speaking just for myself, there were many things I loved about it, and many things I hated about it. I was only at it for 12 short years. But in those years, I had quite a bit of varied experience.
The only job I had that I hated everything and liked nothing, was aggregate hauling. Everything else had it's ups and downs.
I do not believe that I would have retired when I did, if not for health reasons. I do know that I would go back to it now, if I could. But only on a local basis. The OTR life has been made so darn difficult that I just wouldn't want to deal with it anymore.
But that is just my experience.notarps4me and Lilbit Thank this.
