You're right. It probably came out the wrong way. I apoligize for that. it's just that I can't stand negative people who spend the time complaining about their problems. But you are right, we are free to express ourselves and that's what makes this country so great.

I hope this isn't true. I have read an article in Trucker's News about Mexican truck drivers. You're probably right about that. I hope not. But I also see 2011 being much better than 2010, and so-on and so-on.

Couldn't agree w/ you more.

OP, so you'd rather we all just blow sunshine up your skirt? Look, all the time we get newbies and wannabes coming here with ridiculously pie in the sky ideas. Guess what, we were once like that too. But when reality smacks you upside the head it hurts. So maybe the cussin' can bring a little real life into the discussion and ease the sting just a bit.
Trucking is a good career, as long as you don't expect too much of it.Wargames Thanks this. -
I was only in it 4 months before they saw the brains in me (or lack there-of) to become a dispatcher. So, away from the seat out on the road, and into the seat at the desk. I really don't mind dispatching....I am enjoying it, for now, 2 months into it.
But I do miss driving and I am glad I get to every Saturday. Something in me just wants to go. I have been scouting around for business opportunities & possibilities of buying my own truck and putting it to work down the road. We will see.
Good luck to ya, and hang in there, there will be moments you wonder what the heck you are doing, but its normal. -
I don't mind it at all being single with nothing keeping me home but I can see how this would be really difficult with kids. Significant others are more easily replaced.

I feel the same way. This job is great for single people who have no attachments or obligations. But for married folks, it just doesn't seem like a good idea being away from family. There has to be better options for married folks.

OTOH, I am absolutely convinced that some of the long term marriages that truckers are in, have survived solely because they ARE NOT at home and "underfoot" all the time! Kind of sad, when you stop to think about it.

So Stephan,
How many companies, and how many accidents has it been.????
It might be nice to hear Both sides of your storey !!!!!Wargames Thanks this. -
2 Companies. Had a minor preventable accident w/ TMC. Fortunately it was so minor, it never went into my DAC report, even though when the company I am in now called my former employer, they told them the whole story. Learned a lot from that incident and I still have A LOT to learn. Why do you ask?
