People who have never driven a standard / manual transmission are almost always easier to teach how to drive n unsyncho'd transmission. They do not have the regular habits to break, they are learning how to this for the first time, and not having to unlearn things that they can or have done in an automobile's truck.

YES! If not required to wear boots in the school.. wear the lightest most comfortable shoes that you have.. you have to be able to feel your feet and the pedals! With big heavy boots on you will get the "shaky clutch leg" much sooner than with lighter shoes!

I find that I have a hard time going from shifting in a truck all day, to hopping in my car and shifting that, I have to spend a few minutes and stare at the shift pattern so I dont mess it up. I dont know how many times I stall it going home 'cuz I try to start it out in 4th or 5th gear.

Usually once you finish school and go with your trainer after the first 11 hours or first day of driving with your trainer you will have a pretty good grasp on shifting and general driving of the truck. Backing will obviously take a little longer because you aren't backing all day long. After a good three to four months of being on your own you will be pretty comfortable with all of your driving skills.

    Good luck man...
