There's a GREAT video documentary by Dan Rather about CDL mills, training practices, safety, among other issues that might be very interesting n important to ALL of you newbies out there looking for a CDL school or who are already in co. training. Please go to the News section in this forum and look for these two posts: "Dan Rather blasts trucking...." there's a link to watch the video on the 4th page; and "Dan Rather Reports" on Trucking" - there's another link to watch another video on the first page. Check it out. Thanks.

I wasn't! I was a trainer at Alliance in McDounagh GA back in '96 but we actually followed the FMCSA rules and each driver got 40 hours behind the wheel!

I've heard all of the stories over the years and it did not surprise me with Deseries story as I've seen it and witnessed it!

I've also listened to the idiots who have no idea about schools as if they ALL follow the same practices. Some actually do a great job training especially the community and tech colleges. Others are a total waste of money as shown about CDL School in Miami! Most of them give you just enough training to pass the CDL! Whats so funny is these guys think they HAVE to go through a school to get a CDL!

All they have to do is walk down to the Drivers licensing bureau and get the book or download it in PDF format and study it! Take the tests at the end of each section till you max it out then go do your written test and pass it! Next go to Ryder and rent a truck and trailer and get a licensed driver to show you the ropes and teach you how to back up and all the other things and then drive it to the test site and take the driving and PTI part and pass it! BUT the best is the community college!

I can't wait for Dan to fall all over these mega company bottom feeder driver mills and then on to their fleece scams but that's for another day!
