Local work is poss as an O/O if you get with a company that has local contracts. Starting out with your own authority tho, i see it being a very hard struggle for you to work those kind of hours. i do know some guys who work those hours, but they do vocational work such as gravel hauling and tanker work. Pay is equivelant to the hours you put in on it most times (not always tho)..... but right out the gate, i don;t see you succeeding in what you want as an O/O

There's a lot of work there but you have to KNOW it's there. I've run into quite a few daycab O/O's in CT and MA, hauling just about everything. Lots of lumber out of the river port in Groton CT (across from the submarine pens, near the LI Ferry), tons of fuel tankers, and sand/gravel. Most of the guys I've talked to stay in the New England region, and most didn't actually go over into PA or into NY much past Albany either.
