So to compare to other companies...you need to figgure out how much per mile the free fuel is. So, assume fuel cost 3.75. Then subtract the fuel tax since I assume you still need to pay that on your free fuel. Assuming you average .25 fuel tax then your savings are $3.50*250gallons=$875/trip. Now we need to know how long the average trip is. Take 875/average round trip to get approx pay per mile in fuel. So you get .84/mile, + Free fuel bonus + FSC. For us to tell you if this is a good deal, we need the 2 missing pieces..but it does sound pretty good.

I'm not sure how much they get the fuel for now but like I said the owners brother owns the oil company we get the fuel from. I do know when diesel was up to $4.99/gal here I was working in our shop office and had to do fuel receipts and we were getting it for$2.79/gal so I'm sure he's getting it for next to nothing now.
Driving force, I'm sure they would love to move to all o/o because then they have no cost to the truck or paying our 40 shop employees and buying parts. That is why I'm trying to get a truck and get in before everyone else does. -
I can't imagine a company giving away free fuel like that. I have a feeling what they mean when they say free fueling is that the owner does not charge you a fee for using his fuel and facilities, (no fuel markup/no flat user fee), for the use of his storage tank and fuel pump, meaning that he is charging the drivers the same price that he is paying for the fuel.

Well, Taildragon, you may have jinxed me. They said they quit doing that a few months ago so the company could cut back on costs because this has been a slow season due to the car manufacturer but they said they are going to bring it back eventually. Right now, they are selling the fuel "at cost" so he said that if I were to buy it right now from them, it would be around $2.05/gal (price of fuel here is about $3.80 right now). The FSC is .365 (36 and a half cents) and it changes from week to week. They said it usually hovers around .48 but everything has slowed down till the 1st of the year.

Please put down the crackpipe!!! You saying your employer paying 2.05 a gallon. You better dream on if you think ANYONE getting fuel for that price and selling it for 3.80. If you believe that it's obvious choice to open a fuel station instead of driving truck. LMFAOBigKid2 Thanks this.

I've asked to keep the crack comments out of the conversation. If you can't give constructive criticism without saying things like that then do not post in here. It's that easy. Notice how everyone either RESPECTFULLY agrees or RESPECTFULLY disagrees. You're the only one making comments like that. Have some class.

The guy didn't say his employer was buying fuel for $2.05 a gallon and selling it for $3.80 He said the price AROUND there is $3.80 and his employer is selling his fuel to the O/O's for $2.05 a gal. I would think he could do that, if his brother owns the oil company..
Usually when reading these type of deals, at $.84 per mile, the company is paying for a lot of things, like plates, Ins, ifta + filing and so on.GITRDUN45 Thanks this. -

My average operating FUEL cost is 0.59 cpm ytd. My average fuel cost per gal is 3.92 ytd. My ytd MPG average is 6.67 mpg. 0.84 cpm-0.59 cpm=0.25 cpm. That is ONLY fuel cost, no tires, maintenance, or repairs. I know the "discounted" fuel will raise the net in your favor, but it's way too early in the morning(04:00 here) for me to figure out how much, maybe after my next pot of coffee I'll be more help.
SheepDog and BulletProof Thank this. -
OK I'm awake now... using 6.5 for an average MPG if you paid $2.05 for ALL gallons, your FUEL costs would go down to about $0.32 cpm.
