    Hello Everyone,
I've been away from driving ( OTR) for about three years now, been thinking about getting back into it but the issue is i know i would have to start all over again with school and a commitment of one year to a company. I currently make $16.00 an hour behind the desk for a Camping Trailer mfg taking part orders from dealers. The problem is that my mother in laws health is not good and the wife wants to relocate to Indianapolis to be by her mom and so my kids can spend time with her. Driving is the only job i can think of that will make me decent money close to what i make now. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated as i am confused on what to do. stay at the job or drive again?

    Chinatown Thanks this.

My guess is that the wife and kids could go and you could stay as long as the M-I-Ls house is paid for. Not like your incurring more expense. Visits on weekends. If you'd have to incur the M-I-Ls expenses then ya'll would likely have to relocate. Indy has many trucking options and LTL would work for a family man. They might let you work docks and help you refresh.

You're not a magician are you? I went to school in Fla with a guy that moved up to Indiana and didn't last long in trucking.

I believe Schneider and Paschall Truck Lines will hire you right now.
Schneider has lots of work in Indy & Paschall trucks have APU's.
Those two are about the easiest for getting back on the road.

For the time being, you may want to stay behind while your wife and kids go to Indianapolis. $16.00 an hour jobs are very difficult to come by, regardless of where you are. Are you the sole support of your family?

On your off time, when you are visiting your wife and children in Indianapolis, you may also want to look for a job and fill out applications everywhere with semi-decent pay and above. There may be supply facilities that you might be able to find similar work, or perhaps the shipping and receiving area of a manufacturing plant that is providing steady work.

Good luck to you and your family!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

I think gordon would hire you also and stick you with a trainer for a week or so.. truth is all the big companies are desperate for drivers and have lowered their hiring policies quite a bit.
