Not a fully dying technology, otherwise printers wouldn't be made to serve as fax machines . . .

.... yeah, and someday it will be known as the appendix of technology, "I know it's there but what's if for?"

If I have something that's already printed, and a fax machine is handy, I'm going to use that instead of scanning it to email it. Depends on which is easier at the time of need.

all-in-one printers make it just as easy to scan to email. It's a matter of learning to use the technology.

I've spent a lot of time on the road, flying overseas for weeks at a time on business. Getting to a fax machine or a scanner consistently would require either carrying a travel model (HEAVY) or getting to a hotel business center (EXPENSIVE and inconvenient). I ended up more times than not simply taking a picture of the page with my cell phone and sending it as an e-mail attachment or uploading it to a secure share site. Pretty soon that habit had the added benefit of having a searchable database of files I could access anywhere and anytime.

my all in one doesn't make it easy to scan into email. i have to scan each copy. save it. then attach it to email. one by one.

my email app allows me to scan and it will automatically attach. but if i have more then one copy. the next copy overrides the previous copy.

i prefer the fax app. scan everything. input number and hit send. no saving and attaching.

    Lilbit Thanks this.

I dunno about you guys but I still have a crap load of brokers I have to mail my original BOL's into before I get paid. Fax87.com is a great eFax site. Cheap and easy to use. Guess the people I deal with aren't as fancy as Landstar and the likes.

Then again, a lot of these brokers (and trucking companies), that want you to mail in the hard copies are simply trying to float a few more days of not paying you. For independents that are choosing a load I think that would be high on my list of priorities regarding whether or not I accept a load.

Mailing BOLs, and the additional time to get paid just factors into what rate I'll do the load for.
