Swift has people quit every day. I concur with the thought of getting your mentor training done, see if the job is still available and then take it if you get it. Just let Swift know you got an offer too good to turn down. If you leave on good terms, they will hire you back if you ever want to come back to them. That gig sounds like a great deal. I'd be all over it.

based on my experience with swift, which is limited to contact with my recruiter, swift seems very good. heading to their millington academy on the 4th. nervous after my experience with cre, but they seem to be a great company.

In my opinion it sounds fishy, i would stay with swift for the year and finish it out, experience and loyalty pay
Off in the long run, if something were to happen, short periods of employment with numerous
Companys will throw you into the Dont hire pile, swift may be a drive / cdl mill but they are a
Huge name that every one knows and that pays off when you start looking again -

No he didn't, started out with a power company hauling backhoe's and 50' poles. Then went otr for a local company hauling hot oil and dirt for the highway system . Talked to him yesterday and he's thinking about going to swift's flatbed school in Indiana

I use to be a trainer and I do know in the company I worked for we did have some horrible trainers [mentors]! Some will mile mule your butt while others will actually train you and work with you on the ins and outs. Remember to check your rig, lights, oil, etc. Be sure you get enough sleep and always drive safely. Also if you do have a bonehead of a trainer then DON"T be afraid to call the headquarters and ask for a different one. If the headquarters wants to know why, let them know what type of trainer s/he is. Then be honest on the final eval on that trainer, if they give you one.

Went to the corporate office in Corona and met with the HR director asking if there was any work before January. He said there was 1 position in the ready mix division, $15hr + $2.50 per load 40hrs a week guaranteed. You even get your base pay X 8hrs for rain days, which they have not had a rain delay here in years. He said he would pull my DAC and CSA reports and if all was clear the job was mine as soon as I pass the pee test.
Stopped by Swifts Fontana Terminal and talked to driver development. I told her I needed another week before going out with a mentor and she basically said she has enough drivers coming through orientation as it is and she would just remove me from the system and if I decide on a firm date to go out I just need to sign some paperwork to get back into the system. If I go over 30 days after my orientation completion date I would need to reapply from square one.
Her attitude said a lot. Made my decision super easy. So it looks like I'll be a ready mix driver for $15hr and be home everyday and not being gone for 6 weeks at a shot just to get 3 days home.Theghosthunter Thanks this. -
Good and best of luck to you
