It used to be 64C back in my day...

Talk about an Army Changing, when I went in OD Green, when I got out BDU, When I Went in Poplin Shirt, when I got out Mint Green, when I went in, M16A1, when I got out M16A2. when I went in M151A1 Truck Utility (Jeep) when I got out M998 Truck Utility (Humvee)...

The list goes on, I did not ETS from the same Army I enlisted in...

what are you, nuts? take the government job! go over to the bad companies section, and read about how great OTR driving is! you only get paid by the miles you run, the company doesn't even pay all of it, the benefits suck, and your doin' good if you make it home once a month!

And best of all, a total lack of real retirement plans! all otr companies are the same, do NOT bother with them. take the gov job, and if you don't like it, there will never be a shortage of easy, braindead, OTR jobs out there.....

What makes you think a government job is so much better than private sector?

It's a bureaucratic organization where it's often the inept that get promoted to get them out of someone else's hair. The "process" that it takes to get things done is incredibly wasteful. Often you will be forced to join a union and will have no choice in the matter. If you don't actually join the union, you will be charged a "fair share" surcharge which is $4-5 less than voting member dues with no rights to vote. Just because you benefit from the same contract as a union member.

The bennies may seem great, until you really start to use them.

If you have any type of worth ethic, you will struggle in the environment because it wreaks of inefficiency and laziness.

Been there done that. Realized it wasn't for me.

Exactly. You can be inefficient and lazy, and still make more and work less than going OTR! Take the gov't job!

This is a no brainer take to local job.

If you don't like it or latter on you find out you can make more money with an otr outfit you can always chance jobs.

Oh. Great. I thought I might make more money going OTR vs' what I'm doing now. Hauling "local" cement. Local as in sometimes 650 miles a day.

you might be able to, all depends on what you wanna do OTR and what you make now...I took a $20,000 pay cut to be local but im still makeing $50k+ so it wasnt a big deal. if your only makeing $30,000 or something now, going OTR will deffinatly pay more

Those numbers are sure depressing. It's all what you wanna do,OTR or local. You can find a local job pays better then that. You can also make good money OTR as long as you don't spend anything,in other wirds starve and you'll get rich, lol.Seriously though you don't make much OTR.I would say regional or dedicated would be the way to go.At least you'll pretty much know what your pay will be every week.
