I roll our garbage receptacle to the end of our yard next to our neighbor's trash receptacle at her driveway.
Our garbage truck then does not need to stop twice.
Just accelerates once from the previous neighbor, stops, empties our receptacle, moves forward 4 feet to empty the next receptacle.
Saves time and wear and tear.
Do any trash companies recommend this to their clients?
Thank you.
To save fuel, pollution, brakes, I place container next to neighbor's

I've been a mechanic in the garbage industry for almost 20 years and I gotta say that is BRILLIANT!!!!! LOL, resi trucks go through brakes at least every three months. Full throttle, full brake, full throttle, full brake, etc all day long. It's brutal on the transmissions, brakes, etc.
My hat tips to you sir!!!SavageSam and cableclown Thank this. -
That really is a super easy way to increase efficiency. Hey why not have a location(s) on each resi st where 3-4 neighbors can roll their cans to? Maybe a max 50ft from each home or something like that.

I bet the driver appreciates that, but our trucks take a beating regardless so really it doesn't make a lot of difference. Most companies rotate their fleet out every 5-7 years. Some trucks last longer depending on the driver and how much abuse they give their truck. But after so many miles/years it makes little sense to keep dumping money into keeping an old garbage truck running. But just knowing their are customers like you trying to help the driver out , well that means a lot. Kudos to you!
