You don't need to reveal the name, because if your company DOES have contracts with Wal-Mart, I've already got an idea, and no, man... i'm SO not bashing you.

All i'm saying is that after you get a "year-clear" ..... you can THEN tell your DM, FM, and on up the chain, your performance, integrity, OT delivery record, etc.... and request (or insist!) on getting on a Wal-Mart dedicated account; lest you shall go elsewhere.

Embarrassement? Heck i can't spell it right; tried 3 times. I had my own TRASH route w/ 3 straight dumps and one tipper in my teens/20's. Got grandfathered in, went into IT when it was kickin in the 90's, and then... back to trucking when I got RIF'd. I had to start at the bottom....again, after 12 years experience. I went to Transport America, USX, and then FedEx/LineHaul .... after getting my CDL "over" again in '03.

Most of us have to pay our due diligence, man. It sucks, but it is. And no, I'm not an O/O . . . still a company guy for a really small fleet pulling tanks. Opportunities DO open up, with experience. There were days in the OTR time, we counted pennies. Literally. Wish I had pictures, but no cellphones back then; least not for us "working class" folks.

If you ever want to PM me, feel free. You'll see from here a lot of the guys pick on me for being a "softie" or "non-combatant." Yep, that's me.

Wishing you the best, let me know if I can further help!

Change companies. If you're not making a decent paycheck, then change companies. Martin Transport has been getting several Walmart accounts; maybe check them or any company for now so you can make a decent paycheck.

Poconos is a large area; where exactly are you?

Don't worry about the school debt for now. Put your family and new house first, then deal with the school debt later.

Check Calex Logistics right there in PA.
    Here's a post from @rabbiporkchop about Calex Logistics :
"They generally Haul Dry Goods or electric wheelchairs out west to maybe Las Vegas Nevada and pick up produce in Salinas California or Bakersfield California or Yuma Arizona or El Centro California or Wenatchee Washington and bring that produce back to Milton Pennsylvania to Weis Markets Distribution Center. They generally schedule your delivery 5 days from the time you get loaded and head out and it only takes you a maximum 4 days to drive the trip if you run legal with plenty of time to sleep or go sightseeing so you generally get your 34-hour reset while you're waiting to get unloaded."

Something similar to this is where the better paychecks are. Coast to coast and not stuck in the Northeast doing short runs.

Another option could be talking to your current company. I would say the biggest mistake rookie drivers make is being too quiet. You have to speak up when something bothers you. They can't fix what they don't know is broken. Give them a chance. I swear, the one almost unifying quality that all experienced drivers have is the willingness to complain. Proper communication is key to making money. You give me two short runs or two fat ones back to back and you can expect a phone call from me.

You can change companies after a year and be fine. Wally just doesn't want a job Hopper resume. Lol, and contrary to what someone else mentioned WM doesn't like or looking for mega drivers. What they are looking for is safe, clean, driver record. Courteous professional driver. Be and act the part and you should have no problem getting hired. They ask a lot from their drivers but also show appreciation towards us. Is it the perfect job.....? Might not be like the good ole days, but I'm satisfied and make a decent living. Also if you behave and play by the rules you will not be bothered. Good luck to you op

I would wait for the year to end, then apply at walmart to see what they say.

I don't get some of you guys thinking that these things are written in stone. I know where I was at there is a 5 year minimal to get your app looked at but every once in a while they would get someone who had 2 years driving and they would talk to them to see why they applied, many times they would hire the applicant, one of them had 18 months of driving and turned out to be the best driver they ever had, and I worked with the guy a few times, and he is a good driver.

SO try it, nothing to lose.
