Question: is it possible to run your own authority from another state?

Example: open authority in nevada with all filings in nevada while living in California.
    Mainly CARB issues

Are you trying to avoid CARB? I don't think it matters where your 'home base' state is as far as authority goes, if your truck enters cali, you are subject to CARB regardless ...

Are you trying to run a non-CARB compliant truck in cali? What is the issue of what the base state will be?

Your plates and IFTA have to move to that state than your filling address will change when you update.

No doubt about it, there isn't anything that can be done to avoid CARB if operating in California.

Your base plate will have to be in your home state, now easy way around that requirement.

Very hard and expressive. You will actually have to have a business in NV. When getting plates and IFTA you have to prove you have a business.

My cousin and I got together to have dinner. We talked about CARB and how he cant come to California with his 2004 pete. He leaves his truck at my brothers house in Phoenix, AZ then catches a plane over to LAX to spend time with his kids. He wants to spend more time with them but keep his truck moving at the same time. It came to mind to ask here if it would be possible to get his authority in nevada while he lives in California for a while to be with his kids and put his brother on his rig. He has an address in nevada and doesnt want to get rid of the rig do to sentimental value.
