"IM TIRED!" whined to dispatcher.
Dispatcher looks up your work last 10 days, 7000 miles, 40 LTL stops made hand unloaded etc.
BINGO. Time off. Get out of here. See you in a few days.
But god help you if you only did like 1000 miles in your third day and whine IM TIRED! They do NOT wanna hear it.
Youre going to sit. And sit some more and a few more days after the payroll evaporates. Savvy? You should be well rested now. Don't do it again.
With that said, I am not your opponet. I have compassion believe it or not.
Driving tired, sleepy etc is worst than driving drunk. If you put in effort cranking off 400 miles against storms and all sorts of battles and you cannot hold her between the lines, PARK IT.
DOCUMENT this problem right away on your satellite. Tell them you did your best but cannot continue to hold her between lines today, will rest a while and get going asap.Woodys, Lepton1, Trucking in Tennessee and 1 other person Thank this. -

Sometimes I get two 34's in in a week. Lolbzinger Thanks this. -
I worked for what is supposedly the least safe company in the industry; Swift. One month after like 7 months or something like that on the road, with home time of a few days(my choice) after 6 months and doing 8/2 splits and recapping for like 3-4 weeks straight... I called my driver leader about 200 miles from my delivery and told her that I was parking on a service road in Wyoming(on my way to Utah) and that the load was going to have to wait because I needed to take a 34. I had like 30 hours worth of recap and plenty of hours to get the load 200 miles. But I was just not feeling it. Parked my ### on an onramp and slept for like 48 hours with my phone off and Qualcomm unplugged.
You do what you have to do. I have gone as far as to toss my phone in the side box so nobody could reach me and turn the batter switch off on my truck so I couldn’t be reached. There are more important things than that load behind you. -
