I was referring to IL, where you can not carry loaded in a lot of places even with a ccw. In IL the 5 seconds to safety is a loophole in the law. Having a pistol unloaded in a case in your pocket is considered transporting not carrying so it is perfectly legal without a ccw or some places where carrying is not aloud.

In il it is illegal to carry in bars, financial institutions, government buildings, parks, parades, public events, places of public gathering, trains, buses, schools, I think hospitals, and any business or private property that posts a no guns sign, which is basicly everyware in chicago

    IL law on carrying restrictions

The legislature carved out a variety of sensitive places where concealed carry is prohibited. A licensee may not knowingly carry a concealed firearm into: (1) schools or child care facilities; (2) government buildings; (3) courts; (4) correctional facilities; (5) hospitals, mental health facilities, or nursing homes; (6) public transportation; (7) establishments where more than 50 percent of sales are from alcohol; (8) public gatherings or special events open to the public; (9) locations that have been issued special liquor licenses; (10) public playgrounds, parks, and athletic facilities; (10) Cook County Forest Preserve property; (11) colleges and universities; (12) gaming facilities; (13) public libraries; (15) airports; (16) amusement parks, zoos, and museums; (17) nuclear facilities; and (18) any area where firearms are prohibited under federal law

I only stay for family. The City of Chicago controlls the whole state and ruins it for everyonr else.

Carried by 6 or Judged by 12 seems like a pretty easy decision to me. I will always be protected and have yet had an issue carrying since 92.

That all depends upon WHERE in the state you reside. Around here, where guns are concerned, the general consensus amongst the sheriff deputies is "as long as you aren't causing trouble, just don't let the state boys catch you".

About an hour north of here several years ago (before cwp), some kids did a pump & run at a gas station. Station owner grabbed his gun, got in his car, chased them several blocks, and held them at gunpoint waiting for the sheriff. According to the letter of the law, as soon as the station owner left his property he was committing a felony. Probably several through the whole incident. In Chicago, he would've been arrested and the book thrown at him just for keeping the gun at his business. Down here? He just had to sit through a 4 hour class on when it is acceptable to use deadly force. No point trying to prosecute him...jury down here wouldn't have convicted.

Doesn't matter WHAT the laws are, juries in this country have the power to nullify ridiculous laws...basically say "yeah, he broke the law, but the law is stupid and wrong so we're not going to convict him". If the locals don't like the state law, the local prosecutor won't charge anybody under it because the local jury won't convict. If the prosecutor won't prosecute the case, the cops won't bother arresting you unless you give them good reason to. So don't give them a reason.
