Well as the title says it, tomorrow at 6:30am I will be starting my orientation with Swift. This is my second attempt at working for Swift. The first time, for what ever reason, they did not hire me and would not explain why. I figured it was because back in 2006, I was a student driver for Werner and I decided to leave. I followed the correct steps to quit without a negative report. My DAC report just said that Werner would not hire me before a review, which I felt was understandable. The reasoning for Swift not hiring me was beyond me. This time, I asked my recruiter, who was VERY friendly and willing to do as requested, double checked everything on my app. and my criminal record (which only has one MINOR incident) and my previous employers. She assured me that there is nothing that would stop me from being hired this time. So here I am, waiting at the Knights Inn to be shuttled to the New Boston, MI terminal at 6am. I am really nervous, but on the other hand, I CANT WAIT. Hopefully everything goes well and I will be on a mentors truck by next week! keep ya posted!
Tomorrow is my orientation with Swift Trans.

So I made it through orientation. I didnt get my mentor till the following week but that was by choice, swift had mentors waiting for us. My mentor and I get along very well and he also lives close to me so when he takes home time, I can go home as well. So far, my experience is positve, but of course I have only been with the company for a week. lol
Marky84 Thanks this. -
glad to hear it. ill be going with swift too

How come you left Werner? I was thinking of going with them after school. Classes start for me on the 19th of Nov. Then I have to decide what company to work with. I was thinking either Swift or Werner

My training is done on the 27th of November HOPEFULLY swift will have a truck ready for me to jump into, but my mentor says it could take up to a week for a truck assignment. My training experience was positive. It seemed to go by quick. @Sanoski - there was really no reason I left werner except that I got home sick. I had a great trainer and I didnt mind the company. But I have heard from ALOT of people, including their own drivers, that werner does not take care of their drivers. But that is just other people opinions. I am no position to talk about werner. I, so far, like swift. They SEEM to care, at least somewhat, of their drivers. If you are having a problem with your driver leader, its very easy to change. Its very easy to request a change in home terminal if you are having a problem with that. So far, so good. we will see how I do on my own. Good luck to all and DRIVE SAFE!

hey truckerguy48, i'm in school now and werner prehired me. From this thread and everybody else here on truckers report werner seems like a big no. Swift was my second option. If you dont mind me asking what are they paying you a mile? and how has the experience been with swift ?
