    For those concerned about me
    I am no longer stranded.

My mother decided to take money out of her 401k to add to the loan my brother is getting so the truck can be fixed instead of being abandoned here.

That is a better ending than the way this story started out.

Yea, to be completely honest a 1400 mile walk home has a very slim chance of survival with no food and shelter and I had thoughts of suicide to save myself the suffering. The stress was getting to me and making me extremely depressed.

I hate that my mother had to take money out of her 401k to help me, but givin the situation I couldn't refuse it. Yet another sacrifice she has made for me. She has done so much for me and my brother (who has a bad heart) that it's impossible for me to repay her for it. It's why I spent all my entire savings ($40k) last year on a down payment for a house for her and try to pay the mortgage as well, and thus partially why I now have financial issues (since rates plummeted preventing me from saving money again). Got her and my brother out of a crampted run down modular home and into a beautiful 3 bedroom brick house a half a hour from the shore where she had always dreamed of retiring to.

Trucking has provided a better income than any of us have ever had, yet here I am over 40 years old still needing her help. Makes me feel like a failure at life.

40 years in and you've done some good things! Dont let a few hiccups along the way make you feel like a failure.
We have all made mistakes, taken risks, some pay off, some don't, some might even bite you on the ### and hold you still or slow progress for a little while.
The fact remains if we make no choice and do nothing we have no chance at all of achieving any goals at all and that my friend would be the real Looser!
Get your things together, make a plan, discuss what transpired with your family, figure out what it takes and work towards the future and most likely your next accomishment.

Glad to hear you got the truck fixed. Did you happen to figure out what to do with that load? I know those loads can be hard to reschedule sometimes as well. Also did you end up getting enough money to keep the insurance going before it was canceled?

Life is hard man and everyone has to fight to make something of themselves. It is not all rainbows and unicorns out in this crappy world. But I sure know your feeling and how bad things can get. I always try and remember it can always get worse. No matter how bad things seems it can be way worse then what you are going through. Just have to fight through it one day at a time.

Delivered the load, managed to do a short load to get me home, and on April 28th THE TRUCK BROKE DOWN A 4TH TIME!

Same error as the previous breakdown, an SRC failure. Fortunately it only popped up while at the reciever so I was able to drive the 30 miles to a shop without worry of a max derate so no tow needed.

    Another 5.4k estimate.

Spent the last week in a hotel. Insurance is gone since I couldn't renew it. Just got picked up by my mother to bring me home.

If it wasn’t for bad luck then you would have no luck.

There is no financial risk in being a employee. Time to make the transition.
