Try getting ahold of Gayle in the office at BAH. She was a local driver who they moved into the office. She does payroll as well. I used to work with her at Arnold Transportation in 2010. I've never had any issues with DPF and DEF trucks. I also now only work for companies that equip their trucks with APU's. Idling is stupid and annoying either way but I also don't know any company that can remotely turn any truck off from an office, sounds like some weird truck stop restaurant counter conspiracy talk.

I did call payroll. That's when I found out my checks weren't being direct-deposited. I had to drive to NC to get them. One of them had been there for half a week and no one told me, and it had not been mailed. I guess I could have asked them to mail it, but I wanted it that day, so I drove to NC.

I have driven trucks with DPF and DEF and hated them. It was two more things that could leave you on the side of the road if it felt like it. Maybe those systems are more reliable now, but it seemed like they were prone to cause problems when they were implemented. Either way, I dislike them. My experience with those technologies was not a happy one. Like I said before, the smell of DEF in exhaust is sickening. I don't really care for regular diesel exhaust, but DEF in exhaust is even worse.

The story about companies remotely turning-off trucks, might be truck stop conspiracy theory talk, but I heard someone at the office at Werner suggest they could do it. I know they could monitor a truck's idling. They asked me why the truck was idling and if the APU had problems. The APU's air conditioner didn't work and they wouldn't fix it. One time, they "fixed" it by setting the truck to turn off after 5 minutes, but didn't do a thing about the APU's air conditioner. I did eventually get that fixed, but they took their sweet time. When it was fixed, I liked it.

Idling is far from ideal, and I don't idle any time I don't absolutely have to, but if it's too hot, it's too hot. It was 108 last Wednesday. That wasn't the heat index. If companies would equip their trucks with "No-Idle Air Conditioners", there wouldn't be a problem with idling, assuming those things are powerful enough to cool a truck.
