My gauge might be a little off. Pretty common for analog style meters. I might have the numbers wrong too since it's been about 9 months since it all worked correctly.

My gauges are analog as well, I have a 2000 379 with a 97 3406e. I have a scan guage, which gives me readings from the ecm. Bought it about 7 years ago and it was $159

We pretty much have the same deal then since mine is 94 W9 with a 96 5EK in it. What scan tool are you using? I thought about getting one a while back but I really need ET for all the things I have to do. Can't wait for it to get here!

I suppose the earlier E models could be slightly different but I know my 6nz doesn't demand fan to come on for engine temp until 217. I don't recall what temp sets off the alarm. And I'm pretty sure that 217 degree number goes for almost all the electronic cats. 6nz, mbn, and acerts.

Like I said the earlier e models could be different but wouldn't think they are that far off

I use a scangauge D to watch what the ecm sees for water temp.

I'm pretty sure the C15s are higher like 217. It's emissions related in the low NOX files too so if an E model sees a CAT dealer for an overhaul they're required by law to put that newer trash file in the ECM for the EPA.

I guess my question should have been are you sure you've gotten it warm enough to make fan engage or get a warning light?

I do believe the early E models were different but the number at which fan is demanded on can not be changed with a different file or anything else. Man guys have asked to have it lowered but it can't be altered
