It's possible your ecm isn't reading coolant temp. Sensor could be bad or wiring. I think the E models have a different setup than mine. I have one Sensor for dash gauge and another for ecm.
I think the scangauge is about the only cost effective option to monitor ecm. Other than a laptop and et

Does your fan work correctly under load going down the road?

Buzzer won't come on but the fan should. Make sure your gauge is accurate. My 2000 2ws would heat up at 900rpm idling overnight in the winter. Never overheat though. But it would heat up to 200 degrees regularly. Worried me at first till l just got used to it. At least you have good heat that way!

It only works on the manual switch.

Good heat indeed. I have a 4 row dimpled rad and a high performance CAC so it runs colder than your average truck as it is. The gauge is definitely accurate. Confirmed with an infrared gun at the thermostat housing where the sending unit sits for the gauge.

I know but a scan gauge isn't going to cut it. I have a laptop loaded with ET coming and a comm adapter. I'll be able to properly diagnose this issue then. However, I need to idle the truck at 1k no matter what so I need a temporary fix until I can square this issue away. Hoping the A/C cycling the fan will be enough to prevent an overheat.

Unless it's deathly cold with a good wind I run my fan and idle at 1k rpm. Temps stay above 180 still
